News and notes from around the interweb:
- One passenger says he wound up in a psychiatric hospital after American Airlines lost his luggage. He says prices in Switzerland were too high to afford to buy warm clothes.
In a recently filed lawsuit, KR claims that exposure to the extreme cold of a Zurich winter without appropriate clothing that had been in his checked luggage led to his mental health deteriorating to the point that he had to be admitted to a psychiatric hospital.
During his time in Switzerland, KR says he was admitted to three psychiatric hospitals, spending a total of more than a month as an inpatient. Without health insurance, KR was landed with a bill by the Swiss healthcare system of more than $50,000.

Crazy how @AmericanAir doesn’t even make the effort to clean anymore. Bobby Pin on the seat with tons of crumbs on both for a 3 hr flight… I’m not asking for immaculate but basic cleaning would be nice. Power outlets don’t work either… Why doesn’t AA address things like this? pic.twitter.com/ncyDh1QPcN

- New American Airlines international coach and premium economy meals and a new domestic coach buy on board: “chicken salad and Boursin cheese wrap, served with coleslaw and a lemon shortbread cookie” $13. This could be pretty decent, we’ll see starting February 1.

After a month in the psychiatric hospitals, KR still isn’t sane. He fled into Zurich during the winter and checks his jacket. He wasn’t sane at departure.
Woah, “a bill by the Swiss healthcare system of more than $50,000.” Feels like the USA! Ok, so, Switzerland doesn’t have universal healthcare, it seems. Like, if you’re gonna go crazy, maybe consider doing so in the EU or UK, instead. Yet another reason to always have travel insurance, regardless. However, if losing your jacket, causes you to go insane, maybe, just maybe, you shouldn’t be traveling.
As for Delta’s seats, please go with reverse-herringbone for the window seats. No one should want to face the aisle.
What’s “KR”‘s VFTW handle?
I guess KR is shorthand for Karen…
I wear a jacket that can be used in the winter on almost all of my flights. It is insane to go to some place like Zurich without a heavy jacket in the wintertime. Pretty much proof of mental problems before leaving. The story leaves out everything about his finances for his trip. He should have had cash and credit cards. Per Google AI, Zurich has a good selection of second-hand and thrift stores for those financially limited.
