I receive compensation for content and many links on this blog. Citibank is an advertising partner of this site, as is American Express, Chase, Barclays and Capital One. Any opinions expressed in this post are my own, and have not been reviewed, approved, or endorsed by my advertising partners. I do not write about all credit cards that are available -- instead focusing on miles, points, and cash back (and currencies that can be converted into the same). Terms apply to the offers and benefits listed on this page.
News and notes from around the interweb:
- How to Pounce on Best Credit Card Offers (Before Banks Pull Them) this blog’s second link in the New York Times this week.
The rest of us, meanwhile, can keep an eye on the bonus offers via blogs like The Points Guy and View From the Wing or on forums like FlyerTalk and Reddit’s card-churning pages. Then — when the going gets as good as it’s gotten in recent months and we want to go on a free vacation — we can sweep in and gleefully pick off the juiciest offers of all.
- Citibank is offering a 25% bonus on transfers to Virgin Atlantic through March 2. (HT: IadisGr8 even though it isn’t.)
I couldn’t bring myself to write a standalone post on this, since there are many better things to do with points from a Citi Prestige Card. Virgin Atlantic isn’t a great program, and it gets worse January 15.
- American reached out to clarify information in the document I posted about changes to companion upgrades, so I’ve updated the post.
- Boeing is eliminating customer codes from all aircraft types (real avgeek-y stuff)
- New Alaska Airlines inflight amenities:
[G]uests on Alaska’s Gogo-equipped flights can use iMessage, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger to send greetings from 35,000 feet – for free.
In addition all inflight movies are free through March.
- Earning miles via the US Mint died a long time ago. Apparently it’s now dead in Canada too.
Where’s the info on Mint hinted at in your headline?
Never mind, just found it hiding under the airplane photo.
I usually dont comment but your clickbait is incredible why not say *canadian Mint*
please try and hold yourself to some standard
