Singapore Airlines Spontaneous Escapes is offering a 30% discount on award bookings from New York JFK to Frankfurt and back. Book by January 31 for travel in February.
What’s special about this is that copious award space is available throughout the month – and that it’s not just for a seat or two, but much of the cabin. These planes must be empty, which is not surprising for premium cabins in winter between North America and Europe and because many people forget that they can fly a better airline like Singapore across the Pond.
Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer is charging 56,700 miles each way under the promotion. It appears to be available as I write this nearly every single day in February.
Here’s a calendar showing dates where (2) or more business class awards are available using Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles. Chase, Citibank, American Express and Capital One points transfer to Singapore and in my recent experience Membership Rewards points do transfer instantly.
There are many dates with nine or more business class awards available that are even bookable using Air Canada Aeroplan miles at 60,000 points each way. Chase, Amex, Capital One and Bilt points transfer to Aeroplan. That would be my preferred strategy, actually, because their points expiration policy is much better (it’s easy to extend the life of Aeroplan miles, while Singapore miles have hard expiration, should you need to change plans later).
Thanks for the heads up. Singapore Airlines is THE way to fly the pond.
