Has Chase Eliminated the Fairmont Visa?

@ErikHummel asks,

The Fairmont credit card is still listed on the Fairmont Presidents Club website.

However, the application link on that page doesn’t work.

And the card does not appear on the Chase website under their listing of hotel cards.

It’s a unique product for those who can take advantage of the limited Fairmont footprint. (It’s especially valuable for those who bought lifetime Presidents Club status, a deal which was honored.)

Last summer the Fairmont Visa disappeared temporarily. Then it came back.

Chase introduced the Fairmont Visa three years ago. Now it’s conceivable their initial deal was a short term one to test out the concept, it seems more likely that they would have done at least five years given the upfront investment. One could imagine Chase would have decided simply not to acquire new cardmembers, despite having a deal in place, but that seems rather an odd choice.

Nonetheless, the disappearance of the card seems like what happened with the Amtrak co-brand. So it could be gone. Or it could be a temporary issue like last year.

I’ve queried Chase for the answer, though I do not expect to hear back over the weekend though I’ll certainly update when I do.

  1. I know that it had not been on the Chase website for some time. I do wonder why they had chosen to not have it listed with their other cards.

  2. i think this card was flawed from the start. No way to accrue points via hotel stays. Award chart so poorly designed that it makes no sense to use the card over an Ultimate Rewards or cashback card. No transferable points to Fairmont via Ultimate Rewards to juice up the earnings. Great signup bonus though!!!

  3. This is gone at least gyp chase website for more than a year.
    Btw barclay has no cards (other than barclays 1st party) on their site for more than a week

  4. Used 4 nights at the Fairmont Kea Lani in Maui over New Years. Great hotel but I only earned 1 point for the stay? Was hoping to churn this card though, great hotels!

  5. The Fairmont loyalty program is different than other chains, that is true. But nights/stays do count towards higher President’s Club levels (Platinum after 30 nights, for example). And if paid for with the Fairmont card, you get 5x Chase Fairmont points (administered by Chase) which can be redeemed for certs for hotel stays.

    Hope the card does not go away. I presume my Chase certs would still be honored until the expiry date?
