  2. @Gary and anyone else – I’d love to hear more about elite status for sale, and it does sound legal if it’s structured the way tha you describe it. Googling it, I see https://envytraveler.com/, but that’s primarily selling status matches that are often available for free, it seems. Any others?

  3. You shouldn’t have to “pay” for status matches. If you hold status with the airlines or hotels, all you have to do is call them up and advise you wish to do a status match – they’ll ask you to show proof of status with the other company and they’ll match it as long as you meet their qualifications.
