Hyatt Starts Adding Destination Hotels, Here are the Redemption Categories for Each

It was only just October that Hyatt acquired Two Roads Hospitality and the Thompson, Destination, Joie de Vivre, Alila and tommie hotel brands.

Hyatt began integrating this small group of properties quickly. Most of Thompson Hotels joined World of Hyatt March 28th. Then on May 14 Hyatt integrated 14 of the 18 Joie de Vivre hotels into the World of Hyatt portfolio. Several Alila hotels joined the program in June.

There aren’t actually tommie hotels yet, so that leaves Destination Hotels – a chain concentrated mostly in the U.S. West and Hawaii. Last month we learned they’d begin adding Destination Hotels properties to the Hyatt portfolio August 20. That day is here.

At the time we learned which 8 out of three dozen Destination Hotels would join early on. Now Hyatt has shared the new redemption categories for each of those.

Of course some Destination Hotels will become part of other Hyatt brands. Starwood’s Marriott’s Luxury Collection Hotel Talisa, for instance, became the Grand Hyatt Vail last month. That’s a ski property worth paying attention to.

More properties are better but so far we’re only talking about 8 hotels which hardly moves the needle for Hyatt’s limited footprint.

The small pool of hotels means Hyatt’s offer of 2000 bonus points for your first eligible stay at each of these four Two Roads Hospitality brands completed by December 31 won’t cost them very much. Neither will their offer of a category 1-4 free night (valid for 180 days from date of issuance) if you complete an eligible stay at each of these four brands by December 31. (No registration required.)

What makes this interesting though is that if you stay at all four brands by December 31 you’ll earn 8000 total bonus points and a free night. And Hyatt also offers a free night for every 5 of their brands you stay at. Four new brands makes it easier to earn these nights.
