Leave a Comment for a Chance to Win a 2-Night HYATT house Stay With Very Important Resident Status

Yesterday I posted about HYATT house’s new extended stay VIP benefits and that I’d be doing a giveaway of a 2-night HYATT house stay that waives the 30 day requirement to qualify for “Very Important Resident” status on that stay and gets you the inside track on giving those benefits a spin.

Here’s how to enter to win:

  • Read about the new HYATT house ‘Very Important Resident’ benefits.

  • Leave a comment in this current contest post, answering the question “Which new benefit is your favorite and why?” Is it the ability to pick your suite, the grocery shopping service, the personalized hotel tour, or something else?

  • You may enter up to once a day — and I give you a bit of slack in this, I won’t disqualify any entry as long as you don’t make more than one entry per calendar day or as long as no entry is closer than 24 hours together from another one. And if you’re close, we’re cool. I’m not looking to disqualify people, just to make sure there’s no massive ballot stuffing.

All entries (comments) must be received no later than Sunday, June 2 at Noone Eastern time.

I will draw the winner at random early next week from those that meet these guidelines. Make sure you enter a valid e-mail address when entering to be eligible to win (you do not need to leave an email address in the comments, but along with your name where it asks for your email that email must be ‘real’ or I will have no way of contacting you).

I’m the final arbiter in all matters related to this contest and in all matters of interpretation. There is no appeal. I’m doing this because there’s an opportunity to send out some cool prizes, and not taking anything from them in return, so please don’t give me a hard time in the process.

Any questions? email me. And hopefully the winner will also follow up with me to let me know their impressions of the new HYATT house benefits for guests making extended stays.

  1. My favorite is definitely the grocery shopping service. I would love to have that at home, as I hate grocery shopping!

  2. Definately Pick your suite. I would want to get the best room I could for the long stay.

  3. Pick-Your-Suite. This lets me decide which is best – higher floor, away from noise, views …

  4. The grocery service for sure. I’m so tired when I get to the hotel I usually resort to vending machines or bar food, would be great to have healthy options without having to scout the area.

  5. My personal favorite benefit is the grocery service…
having key breakfast and dinner supplies on hand would be a huge convenience

  6. The Pick-Your-Suite would be my favorite. We live in hotels most of the time and having the right room can make a big difference.

  7. ‘Grub Stub’ – it’s always nice to be able to take advantage of a F&B credit!

  8. Pick Your Suite is great! It gives me that final bit of comfort knowing I picked the suite that’s perfect for me!

  9. Grocery butler service!! I hate grocery shopping and this makes life so much easier…

  10. The grocery shopping is a very nice touch. There are things one can’t find at a hotel, and just having them available during a stay is great.

  11. Picking your suite tops the list for me. We have been on alot of vacations over the years and have never had that luxury.

  12. The option to pick your suite because as we all know…some rooms are BETTER than others 😉

  13. I like Pick-Your-Suite. If I’m staying a long time in a room, the location becomes important.

  14. Being a freequent traveler who stays at the same hotel at one place most of the time, I would love the pick your suite benefit so I know I get the room I like or similar room.

  15. The grocery shopping service seems like a great idea. There are too many items that can’t be found at a hotel, and having them stock up for you would be a great “at-home” personal touch!

  16. the grub stub seems cool for a last minute snack when you’re on the run or to hold you over until the grocery shopping service delivers!

  17. Grocery shopping because it’s simply convenient and what better than to have someone else stock it for you. Thanks!

  18. Being able to have some groceries waiting for me when I get to my room would be super convenient.

  19. Good Morning – Pick Your Suite is the most important to me because I would like the best room for an extended period of time. Thank you!

  20. Definitely the grocery shopping service! I often get to a hotel late and would like some of my necessities (and comforts!) readily-available.

  21. Grocery shopping service – when arriving in a place I am not familiar and after a full day nothing better than having the groceries I need already in my room.

  22. Grocery shopping sounds excellent.. let’s me do other, more important things

  23. I’d pick grocery shopping — it would be nice to have that taken care of when I get to the hotel.

  24. Grocery service! Such a benefit when traveling with kids to have food & supplies in the room!

  25. The Pick Your Suite option for me. I actually have a favorite room at the Hyatt House in the Mosaic District in VA, and won’t stay there if my room is booked. So this would be perfect!

  26. Stub Grub – this used to be my favorite benfit as an HHonors Diamond at Hilton Garden Inns

  27. definitely pick-your-suite. Finally, you get to choose what you want to live and not some random room that could be far from elevator, near staircase and what not 🙂

  28. Who wouldn’t like the option to pick your own suite? Thanks for the contest!

  29. For me its the ability to have a customised amenity. When I get in from a flight or a road trip. nothing beats that one treat that I love sitting there waiting in my room.

  30. The Pick Your Suite Option – making the check-in experience more personal and enjoyable.

  31. Of course, Pick your Suite! If you’re going to be staying for an extended time, why not pick your room.

  32. Love the laundry service. I recently started a 6 month RTW trip and there will be a time when I desperately need an escape from the hostel life! After wearing smelly shirts for 2-3 days, they’ll need a good washing

  33. For sure Pick your suite. I can read review and select the better room before everyone else 😉

  34. For a long term stay at a hotel, the grocery shopping service would definitely be the best benefit to me. To come back to the room with real food waiting for me would make me much less tempted to order a pizza or something.

  35. Hey Gary! For a long term stay, the grocery service is by far the best perk.

  36. Love the idea of the grocery shopping service! One less thing to worry about!

  37. for sure the The grocery shopping service! who has time to do that on a biz trip usually?

  38. Grub Stuff. I don’t want to have to make something with my groceries myself!

  39. Scrub Stub – Clean clothes upon returning home and maybe packing only half a week’s worth. Awesome.

  40. Definitely the “favorites” folio, since it helps streamline and personalize the experience to eliminate the boring, repetitive stuff.

  41. Pick your suite! Do they show you a map, or do you get to make someone take you door to door and let you inspect each room?

  42. Love the scrub stub. Lightens my suitcase and lessens the chances of having to check a bag, and fresh clothes are always a plus!

  43. I like the idea of the $10 voucher for some grub. It’s always nice not to be face with a decision between points or a beverage after a flight in.

  44. The grocery service sounds amazing. I like the idea of borrowing essentials that you may have left at home as well.

  45. Grocery shopping service. I stayed at the Residence Inn Crystal City for a month and they had this and it was a life saver. Especially if you’re like me and have a food allergy.

  46. I love the Pick-Your-Suite feature. It’s a great thing, and it becomes even more important the longer the stay!

  47. With three little kids, being able to do laundry so easily with a washer/dryer unit feels like magic!

  48. Grocery list. Nothing beats coming to a place that has food and DRINKS ready

  49. I have actually stayed long term in hotels and for me the “pick your suite” will make a huge difference. Sometimes it’s the littlest things that can make you feel at home during long stays (the way the bed faces, the extra foot of space in the bedroom, etc) so I feel this is a neat benefit!

  50. grocery shopping service: This is the best way to stay healthy while on the road.

  51. Pick you suite feature is the most attractive as the market value of an upgrade to the suite of one’s preference is much higher than any other benefits.

  52. Pick your suite! I can finally get as close to my wish list as possible … top floor, end room, no connecting doors, etc…

  53. We stayed in a Hyatt House this weekend and found the breakfast to be top notch!

  54. Grub stub because I could always use a snack or drink after a day’s travel and checking into Hyatt House.

  55. Hi,

Definitely like the grocery shopping service. I’m vision impaired and hard to find the shops and don’t want to make my wife do everything.

    Dale.

  56. I like the breakfast — nothing beats the convenience of heading downstairs for a free, made-to-order omelette before an exhausting day of business.

  57. The grocery shopping would be very helpful when visiting a new place. It could be a huge time saver for busy professionals. Also it would be a huge help for families who could use supplies when they arrive. Thanks.

  58. Picking your suite because it helps to have an extra room when traveling with young children.

  59. The grocery benefit would be the best. That would save valuable time and hassle and is like having your own personal shopper!

  60. “Favorites” Folio is a really cool idea, hopefully they’d follow through with it and it not become just another guest preferences option on their website. I’d have them stock some frosted flakes and lactose free milk for me!

  61. Love the idea of “pick your suite.” Sort of like run of the house, except the guest chooses. Nice concept.

  62. My favorite would be the Pick your Suite benefit. I always love to see the room before I can decide which one I want..like being in a candy store.

  63. Pick-Your-Suite is my pick. Now, if the hotels would have their floor plans online, it would be easier to make a decision.

  64. I’d say the $10 grub stub – feels like a bonus snack/drink I wouldn’t ordinarily get.

  65. To be able to pick your own suite! It’s a unique service and I don’t know any other brand offer this.

  66. I enjoy the “Grocery Shopping Service.” This is great if I want to stay in, watch a movie, and relax with some snacks.

  67. Grocery Shopping. One less thing to worry about when you arrive after a long day of travel

  68. I’d have to say the grocery shopping service. Long days of work and being gluten-free aren’t always a good mix on the road.

  69. My favorite amenity would be grocery delivery. Usually hotels have few options of ADA (wheelchair adapted) rooms so that one would not likely pay off but having someone deliver and stock groceries is of great benefit when you can’t drive!

  70. Pick-Your-Suite: Pick your own suite from available rooms in your room type at the time of your arrival

  71. For a long stay the Scrub Stub is my favorite benefit. I hate washing clothes at home but I hate washing clothes on the road even more.

  72. Scrub stub – I can always find something to eat, but in tired of going to laundromats or washing my undies in a sink.

  73. pick suite. gives me the ability to choose a view and area of the hall to stay in

  74. Definitely the pick your suite benefit. Why? Deciding how to weight view/convenience is a good thing. I figure I know my own utility function better than others — on most days, anyway.

  75. I love being able to pick the suite so I get the best room in the house with a great view and away from the highway noise, pool but close enough to the elevator, etc.

  76. The Grocery Shopping Service is my favorite because it gives you some of your favorite items which makes it feel a bit more like home.

  77. Pick your suite. I love to get a room with the best sunlight and green views :). Thanks for the blog !!

  78. Grocery shopping service. On the road in a new town, it would be so nice to have food like what I have at home in the cupboards so that I’m not consigned to takeout or room service. Sometimes I’m working real late and just want a PBJ, not some toaster pastry from a vending machine.

  79. I think the grocery shopping service is definitely the coolest. Just takes care of what could be a major hassle at the end of a long day of work.

  80. I’m loving the scrub stub. That’s great for washing fitness gear so my hotel room doesn’t smell like a locker room.

  81. The grocery shopping service sounds pretty good. I don’t like to eat out much, and am pretty picky about what I’ll eat these days (trying to stick to veggies and animals). If I were on an extended trip, I could see this benefit coming in handy.

  82. Pick your suite looks best to me – nice to be able to optimize for high/low floor, proximity to elevator, etc. based on circumstances.

  83. I like the grocery shopping service. I have two small kids so its hard to get around with them. That service would be fantastic. We love peapod here so this sounds not too far off!

  84. Stocked fridge/grocery service. It’s always good to come ‘home’ to some of your favorite foods waiting for you

  85. I’m a fan of the Favorites Folio. Anything to personalize my stay and make me feel special is always appreciated.

  86. Grocery shopping – what an amazing idea for those of us who travel with small kids! The grocery store errand during a trip is such a pain.

  87. The grocery shopping service. I’m a healthy eater, and hotel restaurants usually don’t fit the bill unless you want nothing more than a salad.

  88. Scrub Stub. We already pack pretty light, but this will help even more!

  89. Initially I thought Pick-your-Suite was best, but I’m actually most intrigued by Favorites Folio, so that’s what I’m going with.

  90. The hotel tour. I’m a bit obsessed with hotel operations so having the chance to take a behind the scenes tour would be fascinating.

  91. I like the VIP Welcome Amenity, I’m always a sucker for that kind of thing.

  92. The grocery Shopping Service…it’s just that convenient, who wouldn’t love it!?

  93. If you’re gonna be staying somewhere 30+ nights, picking the suite is useful. Some might want to be near the elevator or stairs for accessibility. Others might want to be far to reduce traffic noise. Window direction is important too for sunlight purposes.

  94. I think the “choose your suite” option is great and would certainly use it..

  95. The chose your suite option i s the way to go. Ususally you get little say so actually getting a choice would be wonderful.

  96. grub stub. being able to do a load of laundry when traveling with kids will be a life saver.

  97. Best perk is the grocery shopping. Knowing that even if I get in late that I’ll have something to eat and a decent beer (I’m picky) is priceless.

  98. I love the grocery shopping service because I hate going shopping and saving that time will give me more time to get work done.

  99. The Grocery benefit – it’s always nice to show up and have something like that already taken care of – especially if you are showing up late at night!

  100. The grocery service would be great for business travel, especially in towns I am not familiar with.

  101. I like the pick your suite option, keeps you away from the freeway noise at some hotels.

  102. I’m definitely digging the ‘pick your own suite’ benefit – high floor, city views, peace and quiet. Here’s to winning that awesome prize 🙂

  103. The grocery shopping! Having exactly what you want without having to go out and get it yourself after a long day of work or travel is the best!

  104. Going to say the grocery shopping service, because it’d be nice to show up late somewhere and not have to immediately deal with getting supplies or ordering room service.

  105. I like the pick-your-suite option the best, though there are a couple other benefits that are pretty cool too!

  106. VIP Welcome Amenity: You can select an amenity of your choice to be waiting for you when you arrive because my needs will change from time to time.

  107. My favorite benefit is “Pick-Your-Suite.” I like having the decision-making power inherent in that option.

  108. Pick my suite, but the grub stub and breakfast tie with a close second as I know both would come in handy!

    Thank you!

  109. Picking your own suite, followed by personalized home touches [like the rocking chair].

  110. I’m a fan of the ‘Pick your suite’ benefit, since it offers you an option to get a higher floor or better views where you stay. Thanks!

  111. I like the “pick your suite” option. I like to be close to the elevator but not too close. A door to let my daughter go to sleep while we watch TV is nice. A view rather than a highway if one is available. Stuff like that.

  112. The personalized hotel tour. I realize that it’s probably not the most popular choice, but I totally geek out on behind the scenes stuff!

  113. I would pick the Favorites Folio – It is good to have your personalized attention taken care of

  114. I stayed at Hyatt House in Houston a few weeks ago and it looked like grocery shopping was part of the regular stay package already. I like that they are rolling out a cooked to order omelet service as I thought the breakfast was decent but could use some freshly cooked items. As for what VIR perk seems most intriguing for me – it’ll have to be the tour.

  115. I like Pick Your Suite – it’d be great to choose one with a view, away from traffic noise, morning sun, afternoon sun etc.

  116. Pick-Your-Suite is a great benefit. You are probably working if you are on an extended stay so you could select a room with good evening sunshine.

  117. the grub stub seems cool for a last minute snack when you’re on the run or to hold you over until the grocery shopping service delivers

  118. I realized after posting yesterday that the breakfast is made available to all guests, not just VIR’s. In that case, I select the groceries as my benefit of choice. Being able to have fresh, self-prepared food for dinner while traveling on business is highly underrated.

  119. Grocery shopping! Eliminates the need to drive in an unknown area to get food. Also, it would feel more like I was at home to have groceries stocked in the fridge and will save time after a long day of work!

  120. I love the Pick Your Suite benefit…so much better than having them pick it for you.

  121. Pick your suite…bc maybe you are able to pick a room with surrounding rooms empty

  122. 1. The number one benefit is definitely the pick your suite option. I travel with handicapped and elderly family members who have certain needs to be met in order for their stay to be comfortable. For example, bed size /type, kitchenettes and certain types of bathroom options.

    2. The grocery shopping service is a real star. Oftentimes my family members are too tired even to go to the hotel restaurant to eat. So having something in the room that they can easily access is a blessing.

    3. The favorites folio is nice as well. That way my folks can have extra coffee, the types of pillows/blankets required and other special requests would make their hotel room comfortable versus being a torture chamber.

    THANKS for doing this Gary!

  123. I also like the hotel tour idea. I like learning and you might get to see some behind the scenes spaces/activities.

  124. Ability to pick your suite!
Followed closely by the grocery shopping service.

Thanks for the chance to win!

  125. My favorite new benefit is the Grocery Shopping Service. It’s a pain for me, so having someone else do it is really nice.

  126. I love the Pick-Your-Suite feature. It’s a great thing, and it then it just becomes even more important with a longer stay. Fantastic!

  127. Definitely I would go for “pick your own suite” option. How cool is that ?

  128. Picking your suite. This is definitely important when you are by the noisy pool and need to get work done.

  129. My fave is “pick your suite”. For me, that means no more bad rooms, or at least it won’t be the one that’s the worst available.

  130. Hmm… tough question but I think my favorite would be the Grocery Shopping Service. I can just sit back and relax, knowing that the staff will do all of it (including the carrying bit) for me.

  131. May favorite would be “pick your suite.” Also really like the The Morning Spread.

  132. The Favorites Folio would be quite nice if the service works well. Hotel rooms often feel so cold. Personal touches would be welcome.

  133. Grocery shopping service, because I would love to have a pint of haagen-dazs waiting for me when I arrive. I always have to drive out and pick one up after an already long day.

  134. Scrub Stub. The only thing I hate more than pressing clothes is the whole laundry thing. I’d love Pick your Suite, but I always arrive so late there would be only one to pick from 🙂

  135. Got to say the grocery shopping service so I can have my hummus and tabouli waiting for me.

  136. ability to pick your suite, great benefit that supercedes top tier benefit of this and other programs

  137. Pick your suite because I know I will be getting it before I arrive No Russian roulette

  138. With my family, it is definately the “Pick Your Suite” benefit. I would be interested to see how this actually works.

  139. Pick Your Own Suite would be the benefit I’d choose. I tend to like rooms on a high floor away from the elevator so having this guaranteed, especially for longer stays would be greatly beneficial.

  140. I love the pick your suite option, bust I have to say that if I was on a flight arriving late evening or night I would like the grocery shopping option. Is that cheating?

  141. My favorite benefit is “Pick-Your-Suite.” I like having the decision-making power inherent in that option.

  142. I would also go with the grocery shopping service. It would be nice to have all of the specific things that would make my stay comfortable right there without having to lift a finger!

  143. I like the grocery shopping benefit – so convenient not to have to go out in an unknown city and figure out grocery shopping!

  144. the grub stub seems cool for a last minute snack when you’re on the run or to hold you over until the grocery shopping service delivers.

  145. pick your suite – light, floor, layout are all important to me if I am staying more than a day or two.

  146. Absolute favorite is the Grocery Shopping Service because I can use the time saved to watch a movie or do something productive.

  147. Grocery Shopping Service, because I won’t have to carry any more heavy bags!

  148. The omelet station will get used every time — maybe I’ll use the shopping service to but some custom ingredients?

  149. Grub stub. We are retired so don’t do business travel and don’t acquire elite status anywhere. Breakfast would be cool.

  150. I like the Pick-Your-Suite: Pick your own suite from available rooms in your room type at the time of your arrival.

I like to find a quiet room away from the elevator, and away from any party rooms.

  151. I like the “Scrub stub” idea, especially if I’ve been on the road for a few days.

  152. The grocery shopping service. How great to be able to arrive at any time without worrying about have to then go out shopping.

  153. My choice is “Grub Stub: Redeem for a $10 food and beverage credit from the H BAR or the Guest Market” to exchange for a cold beer after a long day.

  154. I’ve stayed at a regular Hyatt and Hyatt Place, but never a Hyatt House. I’d love to try one out!

  155. Grocery Shopping Service. May not be glamorous, but absolutely useful for stays more than 2-3 days!

  156. Like the grocery shopping service – very convenient especially when traveling with an infant. Just wonder if there is a price limit to this option?

  157. Grocery service. I’d love to have someone to run to Whole Foods and pick me up some hot food. Sure beats room service

  158. With two young kids in tow, the grocery shopping benefit is the clear winner for us!

  159. Pick Your Suite as I like to have a room on high floor with a view and away from elevators.

  160. At some hotels a tour would be fun – especially if you are there for an extended time. Getting your bearings at the start.

  161. Does the grocery shopping include the request: “A sample of local craft beers”? If so, I’m in!

  162. Still gotta love the grocery shopping for the best eating style whether on own or with family.

  163. Pick your suite, so that I can choose the exact location I prefer (quiet side of building, better view, etc.).

  164. I’m amazed how popular the grocery shopping is. I’m still voting for Pick Your Suite!

  165. My favorite benefit is “Pick-Your-Suite.” I appreciate having the decision-making power inherent in that option.

  166. Hands down I love the pick your own suite amenity. As an architecture student I often pick hotels based on their design and views. Hyatt, more than any other brand, selects some of the best architects in the world to design their hotels. In fact, their John Portman-designed hotels, such as the San Francisco and Atlanta Hyatt Regencies, partially inspired me to become a designer myself! That being said, there have been multiple occasions where I’ve booked a hotel for a specific view, only to find out that that view wasn’t available. In one case I ended up in an entirely different wing of the building than I expected! This amenity eliminates this, and it’s a great new feature for those of us who care about these details.

  167. i like the grocery shopping service. that’s something beyond the typical services a hotel can offer. shows real commitment to have staff devoted to meeting your travel needs beyond just the time spent in the hotel room resting.

  168. My vote is for the Scrub Stub. That translates into lighter packing for long trips.

  169. the grub stub seems cool for a last minute snack when you’re on the run or to hold you over until the grocery shopping service delivers!

  170. Pick your own suite is my preferred benefit! Thanks for chance to win this give-away.

  171. The Morning Spread breakfast is Jay’s favorite – like a good brekky to start the day!

  172. Here’s another vote for the grocery shopping service. I often arrive at a destination late at night and would love the option of an in-room snack. Would be even better if the grocery shopping included a nice bottle of wine.

  173. Gotta love the grocery shopping concept because nothing like something cold and nice to eat/snack in your room especially on your first day in travel status.

  174. The personalized hotel tour looks pretty good, and it’s interesting (in my opinion) to see what happens behind-the-scenes.

  175. The grocery services for sure!! That would be a huge help for my family of four!

  176. I considered the grocery shopping for late flight arrivals, but think I will arrive early and go with the pick your suite.

  177. Grocery Shopping Service: It’s hassle-free and no mess (at least not until it gets to my room).

  178. Pick your suite, definitely. Most important in real estate –> most important in a short-term rental, too.

  179. I love the Pick-Your-Suite feature. It’s a great thing, and it then it becomes more important with a longer stay. A valuable addition!

  180. 1. No
    2. Yes, my Samsonite (which is more professional looking) is reserved for business trips. Hopefully the Briggs & Riley one could replace this 🙂
