  1. We had one of the most fun dining experiences after finding the dining spot he had reported on from the Hue Central Market in Vietnam.

It was always fun trying to find the spots he had visited and highlighted.

He’ll be missed, he was an ambassador to the world.

  2. @ Gary — Is that code good for 20% of a 777? I’ve been waiting for a good sale to get one.

  3. Anthony Bourdain was a daily visitor to our living room, spending hours with us.
We feel like we lost a family member.
He will continue to visit us still.

  4. Like so many others, Bourdain opened my eyes to a world I didn’t really know, or understand, was out there. Travel has changed my life and his influence has shaped that journey in ways large and small. His adventures were direct inspirations for places I’ve gone, food I’ve eaten, cultures I’ve experienced. I may be sad that his journey is now over, but you can be damn sure I’m glad that it happened. RIP Anthony.

  5. Anthony Bourdain’s suicide has proven his entire message to be a lie. If HE couldn’t find a reason to keep living, then why should anybody think that expanding one’s horizons is a good idea?

  6. @Tokyo Hyatt Fan – that’s absurd. His message wasn’t that you should emulate his life, the man had demons and was open about those, he talked about continuing to live only for his daughter. Two marriages broke up. He had a history of lsd, cocaine, heroine.

He attributed the breakup of his second marriage to the 250 days a year he was on the road away from home. I don’t think “expanding your horizons” requires 250 days of travel each year. I made a conscious decision to reduce my travel after ~ 160 hotel nights in 2016. I got it down to ~ 115 last year. My goal is to stick to 100.
