Non-Stop Paris Business Class Under $2,000 Roundtrip [50 Cent Base Fares]

JetBlue is selling summer non-stop business class from New York and Boston to Paris for less than $2,000 roundtrip.

Key details of fare basis IC46SV:

  • 14 day advance purchase required
  • Saturday stay required
  • Must commence outbound travel by September 3
  • Must issue tickets by July 19 [but it’s possible the fare won’t last that long]
  • No change fee prior to departure [but you’d pay any difference in fare]

These are actually 50 cent base fares bulk of the money in surcharges.

The airline offers a nice narrowbody product. There’s good food and fantastic wine. However expect that Airbus A321neo suite doors to be disabled in order to save money – the FAA lets them fly with one fewer flight attendant when the doors don’t close.

Airlines have been complaining about Paris and the Olympics, and that it’s hurt rather than helped their bottom lines. JetBlue’s transatlantic performance has been especially bad. Air France bumping summer capacity 15% probably doesn’t help. This fare sale is meant to fill seats JetBlue has at the last minute, and you can grab them now at reasonable prices.

  2. Man I wish I knew how to find a good third strike. Every meetup I attend doesn’t have anyone who can help me learn a method for finding one.

  3. There are a couple of people whom I knew to be real experts at fuel-dumping, and one of them did wonders with YQ dumping on Jetblue before. I guess I could try my hand at it again as I know some of the stuff that worked before, but it would be easier if they just showed up and told more people how it could be done before this fare goes poof or the YQ becomes harder to avoid.

  7. Do airlines have to pay excise taxes on carrier carrier imposed surcharges like they do on the fare?

  8. @Josh – Generally no, which is part of the incentive for airlines to charge all those annoying fees.

  11. @Fueldumper – Who is SF? I’ve asked on the subject at some different meetups but no luck. I don’t really expect to learn some primo secret here but if you’ll tell me what went wrong I can at least learn what not to do.
