Qantas Ramping Up US Lobbying Before Re-filing for Joint Venture With American Airlines

American shared during its earnings call in January that they planned to re-file an application for its expanded joint venture with Qantas now that a new administration is in charge at the Department of Transportation (and Elaine Chao has been nominated to lead the department).

Now The Hill is reporting that Qantas is ramping up its lobbying effort to secure approval for their joint venture with American.

US Considering New ‘Extreme Vetting’ of ALL Visitors – Turn Over Cell Phones, Facebook Passwords

The US is considering new rules that would require longer and more extensive interviews at embassies prior to travel, forcing foreigneers to hand over their phones and questioning about ideologies — and not just for Muslims, or travelers from Muslim majority countries either.

This would apply to travelers from Germany, France, Japan and Australia, too.
