Cathay Pacific Asia Miles Improves Miles Expiration Policy, Becomes a Better Place to Move Credit Card Points

Cathay Pacific’s Asia Miles is a transfer partner of American Express, Citibank, and Capital One. Up until now it hasn’t been a great store of value, a place to transfer points and hold them, because Asia Miles expired after 36 months – this didn’t get extended with more activity in your account.

The good news is that this is changing – effective January 1, 2020 you can extend the life of your miles with any activity in your account every 18 months. Earning any miles, or redeeming any miles will extend validity.

Does the New Tokyo Centurion Pop Up Signal A Second Asian American Express Lounge?

American Express is running a pop up Centurion lounge in Manhattan next weekend. They want to be where their customers are, and they want to be where their customers are shopping.

Other pop ups have foretold where they wanted to offer a permanent lounge. For instance they had a pop up at LAX before getting a deal done to build a lounge there. They did a London pop up and then announced a London Heathrow Centurion lounge.

Asia Fare War, Several U.S. Cities to Several Asian Destinations From $305 Roundtrip

There seems to be a major fare war that’s just dropped between the U.S. and Asia.

Departures are available from at least New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and Las Vegas (and possibly other cities) to places including Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore, Seoul, and Tokyo. Prices start at just $305 roundtrip and deals are available on airlines in all three alliances.
