One of my cousins booked a United MileagePlus award to Warsaw. She was meeting her brother there — he booked an award, too, in business class. She doesn’t have as many miles, she was in coach.

United CEO Oscar Munoz’s statements now suggest he’s happy with the quality of service his airline provides.
Delta, American, and United want to be protected from competition because they’re afraid it will hurt their business. But that’s the point — it will, unless they improve to compete. Acting as a quasi-public utility is a recipe for a continuation of the status quo, and no customer should want that.

United Airlines hasn’t just come under criticism for how it treats its human passengers, it’s received recent attention for how it (mis)treats animals as well. The biggest story was that the airline reportedly locked the World’s Biggest Rabbit in a freezer for hours and them cremated it without permission.
And United just screwed up another pet transport.

This morning’s outrage getting play online and on television appears to be about a soldier on his way home to the U.S. with “military issued duffel filled with combat gear” in his checked bags. United charged him an overweight baggage fee. And they were right.

While planning his honeymoon, he says he spoke to the TSA and to United’s Special Needs desk and that both confirmed he’d be able to bring his segway onboard his flight….
