This video shows what looks to me like the Columbia, South Carolina airport baggage claim. A woman says goodbye “to her traveling boyfriend” and then “Seconds later, her husband appeared with flowers!”
⚡️At the airport, a woman said goodbye to her traveling boyfriend!
Seconds later, her husband appeared with flowers!

This isn’t security camera feed. It’s a phone recording of a professional camera monitor. You can see labels like “A CAM / D CAM” “Rec” exposure readouts, etc.). And the file name shows up on screen as “WWYD_240710_…” which is the abbreviation for ABC’s What Would You Do? hidden camera show that stages situations with actors, capturing bystander reactions.
So while this clip is going viral, it’s a segment from fall 2024 “Girlfriend caught cheating at airport: WWYD Season 17.” Here, co-workers are having a secret affair in baggage claim. The boyfriend arrives to surprise her, the affair is exposed and the show watches how nearby travelers respond.
A bunch of commenters question whether it could happen because “no airport lets non-travelers into baggage claim,” so it “must be staged.” But as readers of this blog know, baggage claim in the U.S. is generally airside and publicly accessible. Some people also try to “solve” the situation by imagining that they’re in an open relationship, there’s no cheating going on here.
While this one is staged, the sitcom scenario is more common than you’d think. One woman found her cheating husband at the airport and grabbed his paramour by the hair while a man showed up at the airport to find his wife leaving on vacation with her lover.

“RussiaNews” ???
Slow news day, Gary?
Sounds like a cut scene from Just for Laughs! Gags! or whatever that show is called
I like your site and have followed it for some time, but I have nothing but scorn for the RussiaNews “site” that you are ciiting here. It is an organ of Russian propaganda, especially geared to supporting Russia against Ukraine. Though this article apparently has little connection to the latter conflict, knowing of the “site’s” larger intent, I’m sure it is partially (at least) designed to show the growing horror (feigned, in all likelihood) at the decline of values in Western civilization. Do you agree?
CAE is a sorry airport. Looks kind of nice but little mainline service or non-hub flights. Often easier to drive to CLT for a nonstop
But as readers of this blog know, baggage claim in the U.S. is generally NOT airside and publicly accessible. There, fixed it for ya !
@TexasTJ
Should be
baggage claim in the U.S. is generally not airside and is therefore publicly accessible.
Otherwise the NOT could also apply to publicly accessible
This reminds me of the 2008 scandal where SC governor Mark Sanford told his staff he was going camping in the Appalachian Mountains and flew down to South America for a rendezvous with his mistress.
When he returned to the state capital, a reporter met him as he walked out of the international section.
This site has officially jumped the shark. Good bye.
Not disagreed @Barry, I was just using Gary’s incorrect text and inserting “NOT”.
An alternative edit is:
baggage claim in the U.S. is generally LANDSIDE and publicly accessible.
Do we know if she was flying Delta? I’d love TD to weigh in on the impacts to DL’s awe inspiring operational stats
If a person makes a long time commitment, this video seems to be implying that one part of that relationship is not living up to their word — i guess that is what is called a bad look.
access to baggage on domestic flights is wide open. anyone can walk in from the street and walk off with an expensive looking bag. Remember Sam Brinton?
Clearly a slow news day, though I use the word “news” with scorn and disdain. I’ve read many of your stories and posts over time and until now, thought you had a decent handle on the realities of flying and have shared content worth reading. For me, that stops today. This story is, by your own admission, based on fabrication and is therefore not news. Further, in my opinion, it was posted in poor taste. While I understand it’s based on fiction, I can’t help but think about similar stories in which real people were hurt from unexpected exposure to their private lives. It’s a shame you didn’t give that some thought before posting this disappointing and insulting trash.
The real headline is “Fugly chick, who doesn’t rate even one boyfriend, has two dudes… and they’re both total fags”
Why did you even take the time to write this article?
Why did I even take the time to comment?
@JS — Yeah, shame on Gary for this one. Cold War never ended. Hybrid, informational, and psychological conflict ongoing, especially through social media and frivolous ‘sites’ like that. And, yup, @Alex L, shame on us all for taking the bait. Oof.
Russia News? Disgusting!
Do better Gary Leff and View from the Wing.
Slava Ukraini!
Airside is an obsolete term.
This whole “thing” is fiction.
Imagine if it was real enough for a VFTW writeup.
Slow Saturday?
E
P.S.. It’s either sterile (past security theater) or landside (pre security theater)
I usually feel relief when Gary leaves us disabled people alone, but why is this outlet pushing Russia on us? I hope everyone is having a wonderful Perestroika.
