News and notes from around the interweb:
- United Airlines is showing less award space on partner airlines if you have your country set to the United States. Change it to another country like Canada and there’s more partner award space. Now we know why United appears to have less Star Alliance partner inventory than other carriers in some cases (although, oddly in a couple of cases, more inventory too). This even opens up Singapore Airlines business class award space.
- Aeroplan President (and EVP Marketing) Mark Nasr is Air Canada’s new Chief Operating Officer.
Here’s Nasr on the importance of inflight food and here he chides frequent flyer programs for focusing only on selling miles to banks and forgetting their role in creating airline loyalty. He explains why it’s important to an airline for members to get value from their miles.

- Minute Suites now has an ‘Express’ (smaller rooms) location at the American Airlines New York JFK terminal 8 near gate C36. It’s part of Priority Pass.

- New Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards members get free points just for joining 750 bonus points right away then book and fly one qualifying round trip (or two qualifying one-way flights) within 60 days of enrollment to earn 4,250 more bonus points.
So, everything really is better up north now isn’t it?
embarrassing to be canadian. no thanks
Instead of Sky Cruise loitering, how about a super airplane that crosses the country and returns. Also it can have feeder airplanes dock with it so passengers and luggage can come from many places and depart to many places. It never lands and engines can be swapped out or repaired in the air. Done correctly it could bump energy efficiency
Sky Cruise? “Someone thinks this is a good idea (or a good grift?).”
My hunch: It’s an AI generated video made by a middle school student as part of an computer art class project.
That “SkyCruise” reminds me of the “blimp” in the TV show ‘Archer’. Powered by nuclear fusion, if only.
That scotter/baggage is a aircraft hold fire waiting to happen.
@Don G — Nah. You’re wrong, buddy. They’re wonderful people, and it’s an actual ‘great’ country. Nice try, though.
How do you change your country setting to Canada?
I’d love to be Canadian right now, it’s so embarrassing here.
@DJ — On the web, on the top bar next to Search and your Account Profile button click “English – US $” and change to Canada.
