American Airlines Finally Plans to Fix Their ‘Concept D’ Business Class Seats

When American Airlines rolled out their ‘Concept D’ business class seat with the Boeing 787-8 and on some Boeing 777-200s there were several problems.

One is that the dividers between the center seats would break. Instead of fixing them American simply locked them in place in the ‘up’ position — and then ordered their new business seats without dividers at all.

American Airlines Domestic First Class Gets All New Meals Starting Wednesday, Here’s What’s Served

American Airlines is rolling out new menus for domestic first class lunches and dinners this week, and will be flying starting Wednesday. New breakfasts follow next year.

Here’s what’s for lunch and dinner starting tomorrow — we can expect these meals, designed by chef Julian Barsotti, to be standard fare for the next year. That should give me plenty of time to try the new lunch cheeseburger.

American Airlines Exec VP Flies United, Discovers Streaming Video Can’t Replace Seat Back Screens

Yesterday I wrote about American Airlines Executive Vice President of People, Communications, and Public Affairs Elise Eberwein flying United in first class. She wrote a trip report on twitter documenting the experience.

Subsequently she’s shared one more detail about the flight, and I hope she does more than just write about it on twitter. She needs to bring the insight back to the American Airlines management team: the flight had no seat back video and she couldn’t watch United’s streaming inflgiht entertainment.

Updated Details of the American Airlines Fleet

I’ve created a table with the current active American Airlines mainline fleet, which consists of 945 aircraft. You can see how many seats are in each aircraft type, and how many of each type they have in service. The table is accurate as of today.

American’s mainline fleet currently consists of 330 first class seats; 16,562 business class or domestic first seats; 2283 premium economy seats; and 146,063 coach seats.

If You’re Flying Basic Economy on American or Delta And Need Overhead Bin Space, Do This

If you’re flying American Airlines on a basic economy fare take note: starting December 12 customers with peanut allergies can board early so they have a chance to wipe down their seats. Delta allows this too.

By the way I don’t actually recommend misrepresenting your needs. I do think these loopholes speak to the absurdity of the restrictions themselves.
