Two Women Ejected From Hawaii, Sent To Los Angeles To Get New Negative Covid-19 Tests

Jun 04 2021

Hawaii requires a negative Covid test presented on arrival, or else you have to go into quarantine. But not any test will do, for instance if you got your test at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic that won’t be accepted because Hawaii only accepts tests on its list of trusted testing partners.

Except that isn’t really true, because there are several tests Hawaii accepts which aren’t on the list. So you might forgive two young women who flew from Raleigh to Hawaii with their negative test results in hand – only to discover that the results wouldn’t be accepted because they weren’t from a provider on Hawaii’s list.

The woman, who is in cancer remission and trying to clean up her affairs while she can, was traveling to her home in Alicante to clear out her belongings in advance of the property’s sale. Since she wasn’t allowed to fly, she had to find a company who would take away all her personal belongings and donate them.

Hotels In India Offering Vaccine Packages For Residents Willing To Pay Extra For A Shot

May 31 2021

Hotels are collaborating with hospitals in India offering vaccine packages and India’s government is cracking down.

By working together with hotels to offer vaccines, Indian hospitals are creating an explicit price. They’re bundling the goods, and that makes it harder to separate how much you’re paying for an included bath robe versus for a life-saving jab.

To fly from the U.K. to Ireland you need a negative PCR Covid-19 test. One woman, a U.K. health care worker, was denied boarding for her flight from Birmingham to Dublin despite having a negative PCR test.

The government doesn’t accept her test, because it was provided by the government – even though it isn’t one of the tests listed as unacceptable. Fortunately there was a workaround to add an enroute stop and avoid the non-sensical requirement.

A Surprising Snag Travel May Run Into With Vaccine Passports This Winter

May 22 2021

Covid-19 vaccines are phenomenal. And they’re about to open up a lot of travel possibilities: so-called ‘vaccine passports’, only we don’t know how long those passports will be valid as a result of virus variants and uncertainty over how long they provide protection.

Much of the world is ordering not just first injections but also booster doses, in case these passports need to be extended. The U.S. hasn’t done this yet.

May 21 2021

The fired United Airlines flight attendant who is suing Marriott under a variety of theories stemming from a positive Covid-19 test, quarantine at the Courtyard Wilmington Downtown, and the hotel sharing his behavior with the airline including that he was allegedly maskless in the lobby among other guests despite his Covid-19 diagnosis is getting quite a bit of coverage.

Much of the detail in the suit is a total distraction. I detailed several problems with it yesterday. A law professor shares another.
