DFW Airport Now Has Same-Day PCR Testing And Rapid Tests In Multiple Locations

The people who run Priority Pass and The Club lounges also now provide Covid-19 testing at Dallas Fort-Worth airport. Collinson offers rapid tests and PCR tests, and for a premium will even turn around PCR tests same day (though it takes longer than just a layover). They tell me they have “applied to be a Trusted Partner with Hawaii and anticipates approval in June.”

There are currently two locations in terminal D and a third location opening there.

  • Pre-security at Gate D22
  • Airside at Gate D7
  • Opening soon at Gate D40

Collinson Covid Testing At DFW Airport Gate D7

They offer online appointment booking and walk ups. Their tests include $79 rapid antigen;, $199 PCR, and $249 PCR with same day turnaround for tests taken by 10:30 a.m.

CareNow has partnered with American Airlines for pre-flight testing but it appears their last available appointment onsite at their DFW airport location is June 11, 2021. CareNow has been located near gate D40, and Collinson is opening a third location there – so presumably they’re taking over the CareNow space.

The challenge I see with their tests is that it isn’t really convenient for passengers to get PCR tests at the airport when they aren’t going to get results same day. This is going to be great for airline employees. Here in Austin there’s at least one lab doing one hour turnaround on PCR tests. That would be the gold standard, but they’d need the lab equipment on site to support it. For destinations that will accept antigen tests, though this is fantastic.

On the other hand I like the idea of providing myriad services that are integrated into life in the airport. DFW used to have a barber shop, for instance, before it was forced out by the airport which saw the opportunity to generate higher revenue from the space. I’d love a robust market and pharmacy to pick up food on the way home and handle my prescriptions. In normal periods (‘the Before Times’) it would have been the most efficient way to handle all of life’s business. And at this point Covid-19 testing falls into that bucket.

  1. We just won’t travel until our vaccination is recognized. $500 per couple with multiple tests required along multiple country visits borders on utterly ridiculous!

  2. A quite profitable undertaking covid has become. Any you think this ($$$$) is going away soon!!!!! Obey Fauci!!!

  3. @CHRIS

Dr. Fauci does not set policy. He is merely a world-respected and highly esteemed expert on infectious disease. Now, compare that to you – a knuckle-dragging troglodyte – and I will 100% follow the good doctor’s advice over your cretinous rant.

p.s. Dr. Fauci has been around for decades, in the background, guiding United States presidents about how best to handle horrible infectious diseases. It was the previous asinine POTUS that made him a household name or else you would have no idea who he is. But every day you live healthier because of his expertise. You’re welcome.
