The Park Hyatt London River Thames has only been open for 10 months. It still has that new hotel feel. It’s located in the Nine Elms district on the south side of the Thames, and many find it to be an odd location other than proximity to the U.S. Embassy.
The hotel room wasn’t great, but that’s the base room at the property and what they were entitled to. The problem here is the disconnect between expectation and reality, the dismissive tone of the hotel towards Honors redemptions, and… the hotel manager’s appalling response.
The group Just Stop Oil promoted themselves vandalizing Stonehenge – and then the next day, going after Taylor Swift’s private jet at London’s Stansted airport. But – whoops – they went to the wrong London airport.
Would ownership of the property influence your decision to stay or not stay? Would the details of who seems to own this property in particular dissuade you from staying there?
Ownership structures are frequently obscured, including in this case, and especially in certain places like London. If you chose not to stay here, how much due diligence would you do on alternate lodging?
The cheapness of a Hyatt Regency refusing coffee refills notwithstanding, is it weird that the background of this property owner likely puts the Albert Embankment property into the category of hotels I want to avoid?
For travel January through March, JetBlue is offering roundtrip business class trips between New York and London Gatwick airport for $1835 total, all-in.
Politicians really ought to have disclosures by their names, highlighting whom they represent. For instance in the U.S. we’d have Patrick McHenry (R-Commercial Banking), Amy Klobuchar (D-Delta Air Lines), Chuck Schumer (D-Television Cameras), and Kyrsten Sinema (I-Private Equity).
In the U.K. they’ve made real advances along these lines.
These fares will not last. And I would wait a bit on booking non-refundable arrangements based on these tickets. The deals are good enough that I could see the airlines getting sellers’ remorse and arguing that they should be cancelled. (Although under DOT rules, doing so would require them to cover non-refundable losses you incur in reliance on the tickets.)
I’ve never heard of Global Airlines but they have a website. The site doesn’t tell you very much. Apparently the founder runs homesharing site HolidaySwap.com, which I’d never heard of.
However they report acquiring an Airbus A380 from Doric Aviation, with plans to take delivery of 3 more of the used aircraft in the coming months in order to launch service from London to New York and Los Angeles in the spring of next year.
ITA Airways, the ‘new’ Alitalia, is running a fare sale between New York and London via Rome. Business class tickets are available as low as $1585 roundtrip when purchasing for travel in August and beyond. That’s roughly half the price you’d expect to pay for a non-stop, and more than $1,000 less per passenger compared to connecting itineraries on Aer Lingus and Austrian.
