Travel is generally at the forefront of toleration. United, for instance, was first to offer ‘undisclosed’ and ‘unspecified’ gender options when booking a ticket. Air Italy, 49% owned by Qatar Airways, was first in Europe to let customers define gender themselves.

That seems to be the trend everywhere except the TSA where they still apparently expect passengers to conform to whatever gender stereotype matches the preferences of their screeners on any given day. You don’t have to be non-binary to run into problems, if you simply don’t appear masculine or feminine enough.

Passengers Accidentally Skip Immigration at O’Hare, Government Tells Them No Worries Just Go Home

Passengers off of flight AY9 “walked to an exit, and followed a TSA Agent through the door leading outside.” One passenger reports realizing the mistake and finding “he went to an agent in the Customs and Border Control (CBP) office [who] told him to not worry and “just go ahead.”

CBP blames Finnair because “it’s up to the airlines to make sure passengers go from an arrival gate to customs” while TSA “says it’s CBP’s responsibility.”

Going Through Airport Security? You May Be Helping Fund Detention Beds at the Southern Border

If Congress refuses to fund $1.1 billion that the administration is requesting for “border operations,” the Department of Homeland Security has asked agencies to come up with how they would re-allocate funds to pay for it, each essentially paying a ‘tax’ out of their budget.

The TSA has proposed taking loose change passengers leave behind at airport security and using it to fund ‘border operations’.
