Bits ‘n Pieces for July 9, 2012

News and Minor Notes:

  • Last month Accorhotels introduced an offer of 500 free Delta miles but the website wasn’t working. Fortunately the website is now working.

  • According to Heels First Travel, you can create a US Airways Dividend Miles Daily Deals account and earn 500 miles with your first purchase. Then purchase Friday’s deal, $5 for Working Mother magazine (the offer sold out on Friday but is back). That way you buy 500 miles for $5, 1 cent a mile. Actually you’ll earn 525 miles since you also earn 5 points per dollar spent. Everyone you refer to US Airways Daily Deals that makes a purchase also earns you both 500 miles.

  • Cranky Flier details the hoops that airlines in the U.S. must go through to allow customers to put their luggage tags on their own bags. Applications must be made to the government airport-by-airport. Bags can be dropped inside the airport only, not outside. If a customer makes a mistake and tosses a ruined tag, the airline must fish it out of the trash. A far cry from Qantas Q Bag Tags — a permanent tag on your bag, check in online, drop your bag and go.

  1. Humm, the Accorhotel website still does not work for me.
When I follow your link and click on “Login here” then I’ll get a “File not found” error page.
Well, it would have been too nice 😉

  2. For the Accorhotel deal would I have to add my skymiles account under “I would like to convert my Le Club Accorhotels points into airline miles automatically”?
It’s the only place I can find where I add my frequent flyer account.
