News and notes from around the interweb:
- Drunk passenger kicks another traveler in the testicles, bites flight attendant. In court the passenger claimed she “would have calmed down if the cabin crew had left her alone.” So I guess it was their fault.
- The head of Hyatt’s Gold Passport program is buying drinks for Milepoint members. You can even win a free trip to Chicago to join in.
- TopCashBack’s 3% rebate on Hyatt reservations is ending in 3 days. Turns out they’ll be bumping the rebate up to 4% for about a week.
- Southwest is the big winner in the concessions the Department of Justice wrangled out of the American-US Airways merger. Not only did they pick up slots at New York LaGuardia, but they’re going to get to add 27 flights at Washington National as well. JetBlue gets to add 8 flights, and there are slots for 5 more flights going to other carriers remaining to be announced.
- American’s previously announced Dallas – Shanghai flight, operated by a Boeing 777-200 (old seats for now), will begin June 11. They’ve got their government approvals for the flight times they requested. Seats go on sale Sunday, so we’ll see what award and upgrade availability look like soon.

Southwest is…getting American Airlines drunk, kidnapping it, and forcing it to serve in its navy? My God!
Hey Gary and Company,
Does anyone know which Admirals Clubs take foreign currency/coin donations for UNICEF’s Change for Good program? Their web site only states “select” Admirals Clubs.
We’ve got about a few hundred bucks in random coins and bills from around the world and would like to donate them.
Thanks!
@Andy – unfortunately I don’t know.
Southwest Shanghais American? What’s the connection?
Ironic, congressmen will go from flying AA and US to Southwest and JetBlue as a reward for allowing consolidation…
