News and notes from around the interweb:
- I’m pretty sure I once posted a video of a flight attendant making grilled cheese sandwiches with the iron in their hotel room. What about hot dogs, hamburgers, eggs, and toasted marshmallows? (HT: Liz M.) I’d prefer to order room service.
- Leveraging your dining out: How to earn miles when you dine out at restaurants. The Ins and Outs of OpenTable for reservations. And the best card to use at restaurants to pay your bill.
- British Airways will introduce pre-order meals in business and first class. This is more like what American Airlines has, where you order from what would be on the plane anyway (and thus make sure you get your first choice) rather than what Singapore Airlines and others (like Thai) offer where you can pick from a larger menu and they’ll have your choice onboard for you.
- Light rail now links DFW airport with downtown.
- People keep getting into strangers’ cars because they think its an Uber
- Fewer Americans take real vacations.

FOOOOOD!!!
The Uber story makes no sense. How are these whiners still alive in 2014 if they don’t lock their car doors? They would have been jacked and left for dead by 1989 around here. When you don’t take even basic responsibility for your own safety, you’ve got bigger problems than some middle-aged lady thought you were a driver…
Where do you go to order meals in advance for Thai? I have a trip in F coming up later this year and may be interested in that.
Thanks!
@brian see details here http://www.thaiair.com/TSCP_WR_PREM/MealRequestInformation.jsp .. i have made my requests in the past by email
I’m not understand why other airlines are not rolling out the pre-order meals. AA does it so it doesn’t waste meals or hear people complain that they didn’t get their first choice.. Makes sense and a very easy way to keep people happy.
The article on cooking food on the hotel iron is a riot. I love Extended Stay Hotels for the kitchen so I can eat what I like … room service always is too much food, unless you can share with a companion. Even with just a microwave I can do lots … if hotel rooms all had toasters I’d be in heaven.
