Via One Mile at a Time, there is the best non-mistake deal I have ever seen for business class between the US and Europe.
- Joint venture partners American and British Airways (which also operates OpenSkies service between New York and Paris-Orly) are matching La Compagnie‘s business class fares between New York and Paris for $1697.
- La Compagnie offers lower fares for two passengers traveling together. We rarely see this, but these oneworld airlines aren’t just matching the single person price they are also matching the two passenger price of $1491 apiece.
- AARP members save $400 on British Airways business class tickets. Anyone can join AARP for $16 per year. That makes a solo roundtrip $1300 and a roundtrip if traveling in pairs $1100 apiece.
- That discount stacks with the 10% off discount given to BA co-brand cardholders using promo code CARDOFFERU which brings down the price to $1167 for one passenger, or $1964 for 2 passengers ($982 each).
You can travel most days between mid-May and early September. You’ll get a flat bed (which is better than La Compagnie) and earn miles with your favorite oneworld frequent flyer program like American AAdvantage. And by stacking discounts you pay hundreds less, even, than La Compagnie. Comparable fares on Delta and Air France are ~ $4800 apiece roundtrip.
Wow! Add the 6K Avios you’ll get when BA visa goes to 3x on airfare purchases and this is a great deal
Nice sale. But UA and DL last April offered $1440 business class fares from all over the US to all over Europe. I scored SEA-AMS and SMF-FCO for that price.
An excellent deal! Too bad this fare doesn’t work the other way (starting in Paris).
Do you know how many AA Elite Qualifying Miles flying in Open skies gets? Is it the same earning rates as for BA?
anyone see if one ways are working?
what about fuel surcharges? are they included in the prices you quote or are they extra?
@adrienne – these include fuel surcharges.
Hey Gary, this is a great deal. Just a quick note that the BA version of this fare allows outbound travel on the BA2 A318 JFK-LCY (and requires a transit to LHR-ORY or LHR-CDG). Very, very cool.
can I credit this to AS?
yes of course
How do I get the BA visa bonus? Put it in the promo code field and it said invalid
@Tom it’s not valid for AA flights but if you put in the Open Skies or BA it will work. Best.
AA flights were working as BA codeshares
I believe this offer is dead.
Gary, the AS Twitter team said you can’t credit OpenSkies flights to AS, but the flight numbers are listed as eligible on the BA partners page of the AS website. Do you have any insight into this?
Thank you! You just saved me and my husband $4,000 from a previously booked August trip!
Cheers!
I am sure I can find a good use for the non Delta frequent flyer points 🙂
@kelsey the flight numbers are explicitly eligible. take a screen shot of the website, but you’ll earn the miles and if not automatically they will make good on their website’s promise.
Perfect, thanks Gary! Can’t wait to celebrate finishing grad school with a trip to Europe!
If you book this through the BA website and have one of these BA Gold Guest List upgrade vouchers, can they be applied afterwards?
Seems like the fares went up to 4000something per leg.
It looks like BA fares are still discounted, but I can’t get the AARP discount to work. I checked business class flights NYC-CDG on Orbitz and through the link on the AARP portal, and got the same price on both (about $1,600 RT before the 10% credit card discount). At no point did I see the $400 discount for logging into AARP and using their link. Any idea what might be going on? I did just sign up for AARP yesterday, so is it possible that there’s some delay there? I immediately got a membership number and logon though, so I wouldn’t think that’s it.
