Southwest Airlines flight WN556 was scheduled to fly Philadelphia – Orlando on Sunday however a woman went into labor during the short flight and they diverted to Charleston.
According to Southwest,
“Medical personnel onboard assisted with the delivery… Emergency medical technicians met the flight upon landing and transported the parents and baby to an area hospital.”
Onboard births happen surprisingly frequently, and sometimes even wind up conferring flight benefits or frequent flyer miles.

Many experts recommend not flying after the 36th week of pregnancy. Southwest says 38 weeks. I’d certainly want to avoid this happening, @IzzyGould took video:

Perhaps most impressive to me — Southwest Impressively they were on the ground only for 70 minutes. The airline was known years ago for the ’10 minute turn’ when they managed to keep their full intra-Texas schedule while returning an aircraft.
They kept the 10 minute turn even after deregulation, though of course it’s long gone.
The headline here makes it sound like there was simply a baby on board who created a “disturbance” by crying. Like SW did something over the top or wrong by diverting to simply boot a crying baby.
Either way – happy everything turned out well in this case.
Pure clickbait. You should be embarrassed.
This is a crap clickbait headline. You should feel very bad.
Yeah, the title crosses the line. Actually pisses me off.
What about the WOMAN that just DELIVERED a baby?!! Don’t you think they diverted for her safety as well? They didn’t divert just for a crying, healthy baby. This is disrespectful to women and downplays the beautiful, horrifying, magical, scary and painful experience of labor. Geez. The title is sickening. And definitely written by a male chauvinist.
Gary….. you have jumped the shark and this blog is now the BA equivalent of buzzfeed.
