  1. Percent-off sales for advance purchased airfare make little sense. Fares could drop to where you’re better off waiting and booking at “regular” price.

  2. Suppose that the FAA’s safety audit of UA is having an impact esp. now that large non-aviation news sources are picking up on the Colorado Rockies coach that sat in the captain’s seat of a UA charter?

  3. Most of my flights are non domestic. Too bad United restricted the use of the discount to domestic only.

  4. I just did some browsing at 10pm local time, offer still available. How many people buy plane tickets a day? I would’ve thought 1900 uses would’ve gone by quick, interesting thought exercise.

  5. United is the best airline out of the US3 for a range of reasons.

That said, it will take more than a 13% discount to make me book a ticket farther in advance than I otherwise would. The opportunity cost is probably in the 25-40% range – so that’s what the promo would need to be in order to be a given.

  6. Gene,
The FAA’s action to prevent UA from not being able to put 3 new aircraft onto its ops cert will do nothing good for profits; execs better hope their employees stop doing things that keep UA on the national news for all the wrong reasons.

  7. Why do you bother posting things like this knowing your emails don’t go out until the next day? My email came in 4/20 at 10:36 am.
