Delta Becomes 3rd Airline to Partner With Airbnb: Earn Miles for Stays

A year ago Virgin America partnered with Airbnb to award miles for stays and successful rental listings.

Now Delta has launched a partnership, awarding 1 SkyMile per dollar spent, and is touting themselves as the first ‘major’ airline to link up with the sharing economy stay provider. (Qantas has a partnership with Airbnb as well.)

Airbnb will effectively rebate you 1% on your spend in the form of SkyMiles.

As they grow they continue to spend marketing dollars to encourage customers to book through them, and hotels continue to try to get the government to stop them.

  1. I think it’s a tragedy that the major airlines are supporting businesses like Airbnb competing with the hotel industry that bring tax revenue to all the communities that they are in.

  2. I’m glad there is another options out there. Getting my miles from Virgin America for my Airbnb stay was like pulling teeth.

  7. Hey Nadia,
    Before you decide something is a tragedy, know your facts. Airbnb pays taxes to local communities. So the cities get their tax dollars either way. Obviously your not a host on Airbnb or VRBO or you would know that. In some cities hosts pay addiyional taxes up to 11% of the income made. Believe me. The government gets their cut either way.
