American Confirms They’re Planning Lie Flat 757s on Transcon Routes

Earlier this month American Airlines maintained that they hadn’t decided whether or not to put Boeing 757s with lie flat seats on domestic routes or not, even as their competitors roll out more domestic flights with lie flat seats up front.

It’s been expected for awhile that American would respond to this competition, and indeed they’ve taken some 757s off of international routes, but they wouldn’t say they’re adding them to the domestic schedule. Nonetheless they are now saying privately that this is what will ultimately happen.

Today an EVA Air Hello Kitty Jet Starts Flying to Los Angeles

Starting today EVA Air flies a Hello Kitty jet on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday Los Angeles – Taipei.

There are special boarding passes and baggage stickers, Hello Kitty crew uniforms, and the seats are transformed into Hello Kitty with headrest covers and pillows. Meal service features utensilves, cups, and napkins that are Hello Kitty. The lavatories are stocked with themed toilet paper.

Success: Waldorf=Astoria Grand Wailea in Hawaii Now Bookable on Points

Hilton doesn’t have blackout dates or capacity controls. When a standard room is available for sale, it should be available on points. That’s true of many hotel programs.

However individual hotels will sometimes playg games with their revenue inventory. They aren’t supposed to do this, but they may view guests on points as worth less than what they might get on the market from a paying customer.

Earn 100% Bonus Delta SkyMiles With Partners You Didn’t Use Last Year

Delta wants to incentivize you to earn their currency with more of their partners. They get paid by those partners for their miles.

But they want to be careful not to be too generous and give you extra miles for the things you’d do already. So they have a new promotion that’s double miles through May 31 for partner activity you didn’t earn SkyMiles for in 2017.

British Airways Will Go Revenue-Based, Introduce Redemptions for All Charges at Low Value

British Airways Executive Club will go more revenue-based for mileage-earning and redemption. Here they’ll copy Lufthansa, Alitalia, and Air France.

On the earning side that’s almost meaningless, it’s already one of the original mostly-revenue based programs with both miles earned based on fare class and elite tier points based on fare as well. This would just tie revenue and miles more directly, a change in technology. On the redemption side though this is bad for members.
