Hyatt used to offer lucrative property-specific bonuses of 500 to 2000 points per night. These were colloquially referred to as ‘G bonuses’ because of the bonus codes attached to them. Combined with whatever promotion Hyatt was running (Faster Free Nights) and the fact that Hyatt used to give 2500 bonus points per night at properties whose club lounges were closed on the weekend meant that the old Gold Passport program was super lucrative, indeed.

We haven’t seen much in the way of property-specific bonuses in the past 8 years, but those are back for hotels that are brand new to Hyatt only.

Hyatt has also announced a 50% rebate on award redemptions at their two Miraval resort properties as well as double points on paid nights there. This applies to stays at their Tucson and Austin properties between May 1 and August 31.

Award nights at Miraval are pricey:

Redemptions include “a $175 resort credit per person, gourmet cuisine, freshly prepared snacks and beverages, and an abundance of complimentary wellness activities, lectures, fitness classes and more.” Nonetheless, Hyatt’s other all-inclusives are part of their award chart rather than having their own (more expensive) redemption pricing.

Similar to when Hyatt first introduced Miraval to their portfolio two years ago you can get half your points back which makes this more accessible, admittedly when temperatures rise and that has an affect on rates and occupancy.

Nonetheless if drum circles, chakra-readings, and sound therapy are your bag, and you’re looking to cleanse this-and-this, this could be your opportunity. Unfortunately the 50% discount doesn’t apply to redemptions against services such as spa, only stay awards. Points rebates post 6-8 weeks after a stay.
