Did You Ever Notice How Airports Make Us Want to Get Naked?

A Tennessee man has occasionally tried to enter Nashville airport naked. On Sunday, though,

Eric Cherry walking through the baggage claim area after he left his clothes in the parking lot.

Cherry attempted to purchase a plane ticket before airport security apprehended him, returned his clothes..

Back in October a flight was delayed 11 hours after a passenger became unruly, stripped naked, and requested sex from a flight attendant.

In May a man, angry at US Airways for overbooking his flight to Jamaica, stripped naked and walked around the Charlotte airport for an hour to protect the airline’s overbooking.

Also in May a nearly naked man stormed a TSA checkpoint and got tased on the buttocks.

In November 2014 a naked man fell through the ceiling of Boston Logan’s terminal C.

And in 2005 actress Lara Flynn Boyle flashed her breasts and tried to climb into bed with a male stranger on board a British Airways flight in first class from Los Angeles to London.

Maybe it’s not airports, per se, but rather passengers going on holiday: Last February tourists were arrested for taking naked photos inside Cambodian temples. It was the second time in 10 days that happened. Thirteen years ago there was even going to be an all-nude airline.

All this inspires pilots, too — like the one last March who drew an air traffic control phallus in the sky between Orlando and Tampa.

Thing is, though, most airports — and indeed most airplanes — aren’t places clean enough where I’d want to remove layers of protection between their floors or furnishings and my skin. So it’s a phenomenon I just cannot grasp.

  1. Gary, I saw this guy coming in. It was gross for sure. Returned from a trip to San Diego and was greeted by this Andre the Giant look a like on the way out the door. Eww.

  2. Ever notice that the ones who take off their clothes in public almost always seem to be the out of shape, overweight, older ones that no one would want to see naked, even at a nude beach? Please resist any temptation to expose your body in public unless you are certain the rendition will be of display quality!

  3. The sky phallus location is just north of my city. Figures. Add another notch in the belt of Polk County and stupidity.

  4. I’m medical and seriously wonder if the woman who was totally nude and the man weren’t in the middle of a psychotic break. This is clearly a demonstration of extreme antisocial behaviour. I don’t see it so much amusing as a cry for help. It’s very sad. Often times even a “personality disorder” can manifest itself thur hypersexuality. This is VERY abnormal and VERY serious.

  6. Really some commenters? The point of what their bodies looks like is not the issue here. The point is something is very sickening about these people and they are in definite need of some professional help. For anyone to comment on their body types shows where your mind is and probably your young age or immaturity. Grow up.

  7. I’ve always had three comments on the subject of running around naked: 1. Even in my young, good looking days I wouldn’t do it. I would at least have on a bikini. And at the pool or beach. Not at the airport. 2. As I age clothes have become my best friend. And 3. If it gets you arrested I want no part of it.
