Sadly for U.S. residents, only those who received their vaccine shots in a few states can access the electronic verification requirements.

    Dear Mr. Doug Parker,
    My name is Jennifer Dingler and I am a proud employee of American Airlines. Since we are no longer seen as people and only as numbers, my number is 204335. This latest move by the American government, and subsequently American Airlines, to mandate a rushed vaccine, is the truest form of coercion. Threatening a person’s livelihood and only means of being able to provide for their family is nothing short of coercion, and in any other form would be illegal. How is this any different than a supervisor telling me I would be fired if I didn’t perform an indecent act? True, employers can require many things as a term for employment, but everyone here at American was hired and is currently working without having had to submit to such a request upon hiring. We have gone a year and a half supposedly being “ESSENTIAL”: working side by side for the greater good of the company. Now after November 24th, my fellow coworkers will be cast aside as if they were nothing. You have so many loyalists devoted to American, but want nothing more than the right to choose what is right for them and their families. They are no longer afforded that right as it is being stripped away from them in a matter of days. Many sacrificing 20-30 years of service for the right to be able to decide what goes into their body and not having that decision made by the company that they served for so long. It is truly a deception I know they did not see coming. United Airlines touted their 95% vaccination rate as a great accomplishment and left hundreds jobless with no chance for unemployment because those employees were being “insubordinate”. Submit to something they have not witnessed long-term side effects for or lose a job they love and all their income to stay financially afloat. To me that is not much of a “choice”. The airline industry is like a bad clique. They just follow in line with whatever the other does, with no thought into how it will effect the people that serve it.

    You have so many employees that do not deserve this kind of treatment. I consider each and every one a family member in my shop and hold each one’s choice to the utmost esteem. I will see so many walked away and out of the building on November 25th due to health, religious or personal reasons all their own and I wish that I could financially back them to the fullest extent. It weighs heavy on my heart and this is by far the most un-American move I have ever witnessed.

    I will be administered the shot within a couple days, not because I believe in the “all healing powers” of Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson and Johnson, but because I have been backed into a financial corner. I do this under duress and the fact that I have three wonderful children and three wonderful step-children that depend on me to keep things going. I do this knowing that if something should happen to me, there is no liability to the pharmaceutical companies or to my company that is coercing me to do this. I have no rights. I am just a cog in this machine, no longer “ESSENTIAL” and my pride diminished. I love this company and I love the people that work here.

    Nothing is more American than standing up for what you believe in. I feel this opinion piece alone will get me in trouble but I believe it had to be said for the ones who can not speak up or say anything.
