News and notes from around the interweb:
- American Airlines flight 877 experienced a 30 minute delay out of Leon, Mexico, on Wednesday. Gate agents passed the time with a nice gate of patty cake before the Dallas-bound flight got on its way.
- Double points on IHG stays starting with your second stay throughout the first quarter of 2025. Registration required.
- Loyalty Leaders Podcast: “MEGA EPISODE – Airline Loyalty Updates with Gary Leff” Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
- Avios facts 5 million new accountholders in 2024. 176 billion points earned, 141 billion redeemed. 396 million redeemed for wine. (They operate their own wine shop, this isn’t a brand licensing deal.)
- Atlanta Centurion lounge fails health inspection after nearly failing two previous inspections. According to American Express,
Delivering a great experience in the Centurion Lounge is our top priority. We take these inspections seriously and have taken immediate steps to address the report
looks like ATL AMEX lounge didn't do so good on it's health inspection:

- Delta opens its new Sky Club in Charlotte a huge upgrade over anything American Airlines offers at its hub. The main American club there is a refugee camp, while the second club is way too small and in their 2018-era ‘modern hospital’ aesthetic.
The new 14,000-plus-square-foot Club, located on the mezzanine level of CLT’s recently expanded Concourse A, seats 246 and overlooks both the airfield and concourse below.
Delta should consider inviting in American Airlines passengers who are (1) Admirals Club members and (2) flying on routes Delta operates from the airport – show them the difference and win some customers away from the dominant hub carrier.
Looks like they had a good time playing patty cake! Much better than being on their phones, ignoring customers, and yelling at customers when they need something. Good for them!
The Admirals Club situation at CLT (and PHX) is embarrassing. Both the CLT C Club and the PHX B and High A Club keep getting phone calls from business travelers in the year 1984 wanting their lounges back.
ATL desperately needs better lounges, so that delay is a disappointment. Clean up the filth and get it open!

The eternal childhood of Millennials in action.
Well, it’s an improvement from the passenger/employee beat downs at the gate.
