News and notes from around the interweb:
- Luxor refunded the resort fee after guest bitten by bed bugs
Terrible news. 3 people are suing the Luxor after allegedly suffering bed bug bites. One victim had a severe allergic reaction and was transported to a local hospital by ambulance, where they treated her in the parking lot due to having bed bugs. Luxor refunded her resort fee. pic.twitter.com/MYnwTjG67O

- At least 119 Amtrak employees conspired with health care providers to bill insurance for fraudulent treatments
- DHS Secretary Kristi Noem’s questionable credit card spending as Governor of South Dakota the card was supposed to be used for travel expenses, so ‘several’ $500 SiriusXM charges are odd. Just do online chat with them as your promotional pricing is going to expire for another 12 months at $3.99/mo, rinse repeat. (HT: Joe)

- Air Miles is on a redemption tour sort of interesting how coalition loyalty programs haven’t really worked in the U.S. (‘until now’ perhaps because arguably Bilt Rewards could be classified that way).
- You really want these scores to be getting better. I don’t mind a health inspection B grade from a hand pulled noodles shop in Chinatown, it’s not what I want to see from a Delta Sky Club.
I’ve written about health inspection at the O’Hare Sky Club, the Philadelphia Admirals Club and Charlotte Centurion lounge.
Not a good look, @Delta. ATL E-Gates Sky Club just scored 84/B on a May 2025 health inspection — nearly identical to its 83/B in Aug 2024. Repeat violations: poor handwashing, food temp control, and sanitation. Premium lounge, but slipping standards? #Delta #ATL #FoodSafety pic.twitter.com/l9QgUN40Wq

Lotto fever at the Luxor Hotel. What exactly do these people expect?
The Luxor being one of the increasing number of properties on the Las Vegas strip whose demolition would be an improvement.
Perhaps a result of many hotel rooms not being cleaned on a daily basis anymore in order to save money.
Bedbugs are not easy to get rid of and they can be taken home by the hotel guests to cause more problems. I hope the people suing win enough to make hotels take notice. Hotel guests should not be gambling on their health.
On Luxor, let ’em sue, and let the courts decide. Personally, I’d stay away from Vegas, generally.
On Noem’s excessive spending, yes, Gary knows the better way with SiriusXM, and other services, to threaten to cancel, get a deal, rinse and repeat. But, that story really exposes how irresponsible, if not outright corrupt, Noem and others have been with public funds. Regardless, many still wrongly perceive Republicans as being better for the economy. Apparently, the propaganda is just that good.
If it’s a poop or bed bug story, VFTW will cover it.
Re Luxor – the compensation was of course too low but the place has 4000 rooms. Bedbugs are everywhere.
I’ve stayed there many times, most recently in a very, very good pyramid elite suite on the top floor, which was spotless and amazing bang for the buck ($230 all-in, incl. a $50 daily f&b credit and free parking). The tower suites are also quite nice and very good value.
