  1. An American didn’t eat for 6 hours. Holy cow!!! What will they do. I hope when they got to Paris they went immediately for a few baguette infusion. The poster was probably 500-100 pounds overweight like 90% of the US.

  2. I have transferred at CDG one or two times every year (absent Covid) for years. It’s not great, mostly for the long trek. But, I’ve never had line issues or others surprise delays. I’m fine with it: always consistently OK. Transfer from 2G (Hop! flights) to 2E isn’t my favorite, but it works. Given my other choice is AMS, I’ll take CDG. Maybe this fall/winter when EES becomes active, AMS might improve. I’m uncertain of how the late 2006 ETIAS implementation will change things.

  3. Ahh, the classics. AA’s broken planes; United’s empty overheads while the flight is delayed to load forced-gate checked bags from group 3.

On the food, hope that meal isn’t anything like the “Denver Signature Dish” burrito that I just pre-ordered. Also, since we all love to complain here, I’ll add, these Magnolia Bakery’s Banana Pudding desserts are just ‘not great.’ I’d need to be starving to enjoy that ‘red velvet’ goop. What happened to the good ole Pie in the Sky?! Those were far better.

And on CDG, why must the French make things so convoluted; meanwhile, the Dutch can manage a Schengen to non-Schengen transfer in 30-minutes at AMS. I trust KLM with tight connections; I won’t do anything less than 3 hours minimum with Air France at CDG. Yikes. And why does AF nearly always board on-time then have everyone wait on the jet-bridge for an hour. Anyone else experiencing this?

  4. I flew first-class on United yesterday from RSW to IAD. The chair had two big sticky pieces of masking tape on it because the tray was broken. I understand that things break, but this aircraft overnighted in EWR the previous night – where it should have been fixed. For the additional price you pay, the amenities should be better. Moreover, the food service consisted of a bag of potato chips. When did first-class decline so badly?

  5. @ Gary — At least you will be getting a credit for skipping the Polaris food when they exclude it from Polaris Basic fares.

  6. OK, CDG does kinda suck, but if you’re an ADULT who is a Sport Illustrated model/social influencer who breaks into tears at an airport your parents failed when it comes to teaching you basic life skills. Sheesh.

  7. The problem is not CDG, the problem is being a narcissistic blond c**t who thinks (and hopes) anybody gives a sh*t about her
Next she will publish something about her struggles with mental health and/or the poor palestinians and/or how bad ICE is…and blah blah blah
People like her are a cancer to society
All these so called “influencers/social media personalities” are the same….
    Just useless

  8. @Doug — Hold your horses, that’s a lotta ‘hate’ for one short comment. Wasn’t expecting there to be an anti-blond contingent out there. Learn somethin’ new every day here. But also, could you please, like, calm down, and maybe, also, send a few insults my way? Some of us ‘get off’ on it… *blushing*

  9. Doug shouldn’t feel so embarrassed about his pork sausage just because he saw a pretty girl. We get it Doug, you are lonely and attracted to the internet star. Take a cue from American, wrap it in a tortilla, and go do that useful thing with your life you won’t shut up about. Is it changing a tire? I bet it’s changing a tire.

  10. @gene and 1990
I don’t drink coffee but thank for the suggestion
I have no reason to insult you
Tell me if what I said about blondie is wrong please
If she wasn’t that hot and/or 30 lbs heavier nobody would give a crap
And if gary had not published her “meltdown” none of us wouldn’t know she even exists

  11. United has the worst international business class meals outbound from SFO (to Asia) compared to other Asian airlines. The salad was served frozen. The dinner roll/bread was dry/hard. The main course tasted like a pile of canned food meat covered with cheese. It was just horrible. And no services. The flight attendant just threw food trays to passengers.

  12. At what point in a life does a person realize that by and large, airline food is going to be subpar and their main job is to fly you to your destination and to do that safely.

Why not exercise a little personal initiative and eat and drink properly before you board the jet and don’t expect to be coddled (or even fed decent food) because you overpaid for the seat?

    Crazy, I know.

  13. @tire thief
I honestly and genuinely don’t understand your comment
Happily married with 2 boys, I use my real name…have no clue why you think I am attracted to someone crying because she can not find her gate
Everybody tries to insult me and yet none of you can honestly tell me that I am wrong..
    Oh well

  14. Those I talk with who’ve just endured CDG are universal; never again unless there’s no choice. Maybe it’s just me, twice at CDG a rustic-looking man in no uniform has pointed at me, “Go to the back of the line.” “Why.” “I told you to go to the back of the line!” (only reason I could think of, discrimination to the Cajun French …)

  15. Doug, you’re wrong.
“And if gary had not published her “meltdown” none of us wouldn’t know she even exists”
I had heard of Olivia Ponton before this blog.

“If she wasn’t that hot and/or 30 lbs heavier nobody would give a crap”
This is purely your opinion, and it’s based on ignorance. How could you possibly know this?

“Next she will publish something about her struggles with mental health and/or the poor palestinians and/or how bad ICE is”
This is speculation, and solely your opinion. It is not a fact, and it is not correct.

There, Doug. No “oh well”. Satisfied?

  16. As someone with a very restrictive diet, unless the flight is > 8 hours AND I’m traveling in biz or first, I bring my own food. And if it’s a redeye I usually skip the meals anyway. I have no use for a gross meal in the middle of my night. That being said, Singapore Air and Air New Zealand both had great food in premium cabins.

  17. @weary watchdog
If you know who she is then probably you are not the average demographic if this blog’s readers
You are correct, everything I wrote is my opinion, not sure what is your point
Lastly, you are the 4th person criticizing my comment and yet none of you dispute the fact that crying (and filming it and posting) because you can not find your gate is pure idiocy AND narcissism

  18. As a Million Mile Flyer on United, my best advice is to never eat the plane meals.

  19. What @ Steven said…

I am not buying the “this is just a way to raise fares” argument. If the airline could simply demand higher fares, they would already be charging them. The truth is that these fares will indeed segment the market, with some paying more and others paying less. Those who eat change/seat/lounge fees will subsidiize those who don’t. That said, I certainly hope that status trumps some of the fare restrictions. If you spend enough to be UA 1K or DL Diamond, you should at least be able to pick your paid business class seat and use the lounge without being nickel and dimed. Time will tell…

  20. The food on UA is getting worse. Bins stay empty for agents fear of taking delay…which then happens because of loading bridge tagging and checking. Employees refuse proactive thinking and adopt rule bound narrow no-go attitude instead.
Our Gary, of course, also stirrs the pot.

  21. @Steven Jacoby — Ah, yes, EWR-JNB, 16 hours, just ‘don’t eat,’ good one… psh, says the million miler…

  22. @Doug,
    I’m with ya brother!
Nobody cares about social influencers besides mindless morons who have no sense of self. (My opinion, I know) I’ve also never heard of this gal, because I have a full life that doesn’t revolve around scrolling every sm platform. This site is about as bad as I get with online garbage.

  23. I understand the frustration over bags being gate checked when bins are open. My trips require checked luggage, so my only carryon is a backpack that fits under a seat (and I never select bulkhead seats). But, here’s my “explanation” on why this happens. Gate agents have a strong incentive to get the plane off without delay. If they ever experienced a delay due to luggage going on board and then getting gate checked, that sticks in their mind. They get negative feedback if they start gate checking too late. They get positive feedback if that doesn’t happen. They probably never know they sent off a plane with empty bins. So, if they start calling the start to gate check too early, they only know they don’t experience the big negative. TL,DNR: With feedback that is simply “delayed” or “not,” GAs have no ability to learn and separate “not delayed, bins near or at full” versus “not delayed, lots of empty bins.”

  24. @Doug (and others) — My ‘coffee’ is the performative outrage and collective narcissism on here. Without it, I practically get a caffeine deficiency headache. So, please, keep coming back, here and other posts. More is more. The engagement sustains us. Also, feel free let blondie have it; I’m sure she can take it. Our modern ‘attention economy’ practically demands it!
