News and notes from around the interweb:
- The Frontier Airlines experience:
Another passenger threw up all over me and all my belongings. She actually was sick out of both ends. The smell was unbearable the entire flight.
Frontier did zero to help. They didnt even offer a paper towel and even laughed at us all. When it initially happened I was in shock and naturally went to the front of plane (seat 5c) for guidance on what to do. The FA literally said to me what to you want us to do about it and can you actually go to the back of the plane and use that bathroom.
It was an over booked flight so I stood back there barefoot the entire flight due to them not having g cleaning supplies or biohazard kits. The entire plain trucked through the vomit. [A flight attendant] placed paper towels over the mess later realizing people had to De-board over it.
- Virgin Atlantic passengers offered £150 future travel credit after bags were delivered at New York JFK covered in sewage.
[T]he airline claims the bags didn’t get contaminated due to a problem with the plane but were, in fact, sprayed with human faeces only after they were inside the airport. The airline has blamed a ‘system failure’ inside New York JFK and says it is working with the Port Authority to make sure its sewage system isn’t going to leak on any more bags.
@mcgtaz Story time: after paying over £1000 for premium economy with virgin atlantic, I discovered my checked baggage covered in sewage. I thought it was mud at first so ended up getting all over my hands. Thanks to the airport police for giving me some wet wipes and a free trolley for my stuff. Don’t @ me saying it’s not poop – Virgin Atlantic confirmed it (so did the smell)! They are now trying to blame JFK airport…Thanks @hanna from the Express for covering my story. #nyc #london #virginatlantic #jfk #ohno ♬ Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday – Chels - This is some epic trolling by United.

- Police to Spirit Airlines passenger in Fort Lauderdale: Is that a bomb in your pocket, or are you just happy to see us?
@kelseyervin #spiritairlines #fortlauderdale #TSA ♬ Police Siren Sound Effect – Beats by Talent - Doug Gollan asks why flying JSX can’t be its own reward – they’re a better experience than other carriers, why should they need to launch a loyalty program? And the answer is pretty simple,
- It’s less about need, than the incremental value it provides. Recognition and reward of customers drives more business, if done well.
- Without a loyalty program you don’t just need your customers to prefer to fly with you, you need them to be willing to give up rebates on another airline in order to do it.
If they’re buying tickets for work, they can do so on (say) American or JSX out of Dallas. JSX may be the better experience, but if they pick American their job helps fund their family’s vacation with points. Offering even a modest program, as JSX is doing, helps minimize the one advantage that competitors had against them. Once they have a loyalty program, customers don’t have to be willing to give up rebates in order to have the better experience.
This article stinks.
JFK marking it’s territory.
Someone please explain why anyone would be barefoot in an aircraft? Where are the “barf bags”? Doesn’t anyone check the seat pocket? Lastly, WHY would anyone really want to travel on a crap hole airline? Even the high dollar airlines have a comparable number of seats priced the same as the crap hole carriers? A rough example is, if Frontier has 100 seats to a destination at $100.00, competitors will have the same number of seats for $100.00. BUT…seat number 101 will be much higher. The early bird will get the worm.

Nice take on JSX rewards, Gary. I always wondered why my local popular bagel chain joint doesn’t do it for the same reasons.
When you fly a trashy airline with trashy employees and trashy passengers you should fully expect a trash experience.
