News and notes from around the interweb:
- Plastiq is running discounted 1.75% processing when you charge business bills of $20,000 or more to your MasterCard by July 31.
- Outside of Wyndham hotel chains don’t appear to be shifting market share away from online travel agencies from their ‘book direct’ campaigns
- Delta award sale: 20,000 miles roundtrip for domestic coach awards to and from Washington, DC; Jackson, WY; Bozeman, MT; Idaho Falls, ID; Reno, NV; Phoenix, AZ; Knoxville, TN; Philadelphia, PA; Boston, MA; Salt Lake City, UT; Rapid City, SD; Las Vegas, NV; St. Louis, MS; San Antonio, TX; Buffalo, NY; and Sacramento, CA.
Book by end of day today for travel between September 6 and October 31 and believe it or not for such a modest ‘flash sale’ there are blackout dates:
- Idaho Falls to US48/AK: September 29 – October 3, 2017
- Phoenix, Boston to US48/AK: October 5 – 9, 2017
- US48/AK to Boston, Idaho Falls, Phoenix: October 5 – 9, 2017
- US48/AK to Phoenix: October 11 – 16, 2017
- Idaho Falls to US48/AK: September 29 – October 3, 2017
- Air Zimbabwe is laying off more than a third of its workforce
- Deanna Ting writes in Skift about what businesses need a loyalty program, and which ones don’t? I think Four Seasons is missing the boat focusing only on guest recognition, they say their guests don’t care about free nights but that’s silly — a business traveler on their company’s dime and be bought away by another luxury chain via rebates. Loyalty programs are also key for permission-based personalized marketing.
- Silvercar is opening new locations at Seattle-Tacoma International (July 31) and Orlando International (August 28th). I rent from Silvercar semi-regularly using promo code VINFINITE for 30% off rentals of 2 days or more.
First time Silvercar users get $25 when referred by someone. The referrer gets $25 as well. This is my referral link, feel free to leave yours in the comments if you’d like.
- Air New Zealand’s new safety video features Katie Holmes and Cuba Goodling, Jr. as… God who at other points are tourists?
Too bad Silvercar dropped the DFW location…I know it was inconvenient but it wasn’t much worse than the rental center shuttle…
@gary, your silvercar referral link above is wrong. Produces a 404 on their site.
I’m not finding a St. Louis in Mississippi.
