Yesterday American Airlines decommissioned their old award calendar. The airline confirmed to me that it was supposed to be gone for good.
However as commenter DJ pointed out yesterday evening there’s still a way to access this tool that lets you display award availability across a month by award type, something the new calendar does not offer.
If you go to American’s advanced flight search, make sure to click ‘redeem miles’ and then select the multi-city tab, your search will pull up the old calendar.
The old calendar, of course, will not display premium economy awards and won’t display American Airlines non-changeable premium cabin awards that aren’t priced via the award chart, so you may want to use both sets of booking tools in your searches.
Great content sir, keep up the good work.
Bingo it worked for me.
Just failed. I tried the hack for a Bos – TYO mid September and wound up in the grips of the new system. The Web site errored out a few times and then delivered me to the new search engine with the useless “calendar” function. Seems they have caught up with this one, I cannot get to the old calendar focused search engine. Damn shame, the new system is pretty meh. And I recently (like January) signed up for the Citi business card to top up my AAdvantage miles. Not much use for them this year and given what I just saw on a quick run at it, they won’t be much use to me ever. I tried a Bos – LHR for September also, best fare (without a killer married segment) was $9 K +. All of the J fares Bos to tokyo (either will do) were north of $9 K. Now, the DFW – NRT flight is a nice one, done it, but it ain’t that nice.
Mistake. I tried a Bos – LHR mileage award and got 230 K miles plus $600 with bad married segments. Just BA, found no AA metal going from Bos or NYC. The $9 K fares to TYO are real, and gave me a pucker. I might not be flying even when I want to, which ain’t right now.
Saved for now. I loathe their new implementation.
Just tried it and it works. I was afraid they would take it down after Gary’s post.
Should this still be working?
sadly no
Any other One World equivalent out there?
