Air Tahiti Nui is offering a status match to anyone with airline status with a major carrier.
- Silver or equivalent with your current program matches to Club Tiare Silver
- Gold or higher (or equivalent) with your current program matches to Club Tiare Gold, which is top ier.
This offer is only available for new Club Tiare accounts through this link. Some programs only like to status match customers that have had some tendency to give them business in the past. Here, anyone that’s had a Club Tiare account is excluded from the promotion.
Eligible airlines to match from include any that fly “between continents.” So presumably United, American, Delta and JetBlue count. Austrian, Brussels Airlines and Starlux count. Technically, Spirit Airlines flies to South America – Colombia! – so they fly between continents. Frontier has announced plans for San Juan – Bogotá, so one wonders whether they will count?
Club Tiare Gold normally requires 60,000 status miles in year, and would be nice to have if you’re flying Air Tahiti Nui economy:
- 75% bonus miles
- Business class check-in and lounge, plus one guest
- Additional piece of luggage and priority baggage
- Free preferred seat assignment
- Dedicated customer service phone number in Papeete and Paris.
Maybe it’s unlikely that you’ll need Air Tahiti Nui elite status? But this one is free, takes very little effort (just fill out their form) and you never know when having elite status with an airline other than the one you fly most could come in handy for status matching to another carrier. Can’t hurt!

Any info on how long the promotional status lasts and if it’ll restrict from future status matches?
Welp I did it
Could hurt if you don’t use it before it expires and it blocks you from a similar offer when you’d actually use it.
Tahiti does seem nice, especially with *gestures broadly* everything going on.
Like, is the middle of the South Pacific *safe enough* from nuclear holocaust?
I mean, if it’s a one-way ticket, I’m not even sure the elite status is necessary.
Doesn’t Brussels Airlines fly intercontinental from Europe to Africa?
@ 1990
lol … not to “burst” your bubble ( pun partially intended ) … Ironically both the Americans & French performed numerous nuclear tests in the South Pacific … so much for ‘paradise’ … but ‘what a way to go ! …”
Cheers !
@bossa — Boom! Yes, well aware of Bikini atoll in the Marshall Islands as an example. I was thinking less of ‘tests’ and more of if the powers at be ‘do it live!’ as ‘Papa Bear’ Bill O’Reilly said.
@ 1990
Far less likely to go BOOM if we aren’t lobbing missiles at the Russians from their front yard.
@ja — Are you one of those ‘peace at any cost’ people?
Because, appeasement doesn’t work.
Historically, we need to do the ‘other thing’–so, I still hope the free peoples of the world (the rest of ‘the West,’ like Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, even the Philippines and Mexico, and hopefully also India) will take our place and actually still stand up against aggressors anywhere whenever they attempt their injustices.
Otherwise, it’s been nice to be able to comment freely at VFTW and elsewhere–while it lasted.
