American AAdvantage is offering up to 20,000 bonus miles each way across the Pond for up to 4 one-way segments booked and flown between yesterday and March 31. Registration prior to travel with promo code NAS17 is required.
You can earn this bonus on American Airlines transatlantic flights (with American Airlines flight numbers) or American codeshares on British Airways, Iberia or Finnair between the U.S. and Europe.
The nice thing about this bonus offer is that most economy fares are eligible to earn something, so it’s certainly worth registering (even if you don’t know you’ll take a trip to Europe, because if you wind up with one you won’t remember to go back and register later).
- First Class fares: F or A
- Business Class fares: J, R, D or I
- Economy Class fares: Y, H, K, M, L, W, V, G, Q, N, O or S
What’s not a nice thing about this bonus offer is that it excludes tickets that were purchased before January 19. So loyal customers who buy American tickets anyway get nothing. It’s a way to save marketing dollars at the expense of the airline’s best customers.
Sorry – but this American Airlines offer doesn’t really pass the “so what” test.
20,000 miles on American will soon be worth an inboard snack. And probably not a very good one.
Maybe Agent irange can take this challenge on next. You know, make American great again.
btw – I love this blog. It’s the best place I know to get real information on the topic of air travel and infinity programs – a topic that I deal with more days than not. Thanks for that!
Agent Orange, that is.
Lots of marketing for trips to London recently
Hi Gary – Is this valid for flights originating out of Europe as well? Thanks!
Hard pass on 20,000 DisAAdvantage miles.
@Jon roundtrips aren’t required, the bonus is for one ways in each direction
Would it be possible to make an award booking with Avios and change the FF# on the booking to my AAdvantage account in order to earn it?
@Rambo paid travel only no award tickets
@Gary I don’t see any language in the offer T&C that gives a bonus of half the RT bonus when flying a one-way, let alone a full bonus for a one-way. Seems to me that bonus miles are only awarded for RT tickets originating in the US.
Says you have to book a ticket not a roundtrip and “half the round-trip bonus will be posted after each eligible one-way segment.”
