Virgin Atlantic Restoring 2020 Award Pricing For Delta Transatlantic Non-Stop Flights

On New Years Day Virgin Atlantic updated its award pricing for travel on Delta. One of the few bright spots in Virgin’s Flying Club program was inexpensive Delta awards, so this was disappointing in the extreme. Prices went up in some cases more than 100%, largely focused on longer distance premium cabin awards.

Then, two days later, their spokespeople started saying that transatlantic awards wouldn’t go up as much as they had published and there would be an update. They’ve now said non-stop transatlantic awards will revert to their earlier pricing, but flying Delta anywhere else in the world or with connections will be a lot more expensive than it was in 2020 in many cases.

Jan 09 2021

American Airlines confronted a reader over throwaway ticketing when he arrived at the airport. He was told that he had better fly all of the segments in his itinerary that day, and that American would be watching.

Instead, the reader got off of his flight to Philadelphia and went home, never taking the last flight on his reservation. As promised, American flagged him, suspended his account – and demanded restitution for past instances of throwaway ticketing.

Flight attendants union head Sara Nelson called for DC protestors to be banned from flying and now the House Homeland Security Committee, under Chairman Bennie Thompson (D-MS) is calling on the TSA and FBI to add protestors to the No Fly List.

The No Fly List is a civil liberties nightmare. Expanding its use will be abused in dangerous ways. We should follow the rule of law – precisely the principle we were defending against on Wednesday at the Capitol.

Historic! Qatar Airways Flight QR1365 Just Crossed – And Cleared – Saudi Airspace

Jan 07 2021

While conflict with Israel gets the most press in the U.S., the primary conflict in the Mideast is between Saudi Arabia (along with Turkey) seeking Sunni influence in the region and working to counter Shia Iran. The conflict in Syria, for instance, is largely a proxy war between Saudi Arabia and Iran. The Saudis have fought Iran-backed rebels in Yemen over the past several years.

Part of this conflict is a 3.5 year old blocked of Qatar by the UAE and Saudi Arabia which ended Tuesday, and the first Qatar Airways flight has just flown through Saudi airspace.

Passenger Attacks Woman After Woman’s Kids Kicked Seat, “You Do What You Got To Do”

Jan 07 2021

iThe woman sort of seems to be claiming self defense arguing she was ‘hit on her shoulder’ but no other passenger saw this and she didn’t contemporaneously inform a flight attendant, she just went all Stand Your Ground on the kids’ mother instead. She says that’s because her “first reaction was to fight,” which is everything you hope for in an airline passenger. “You do what you got to do,” she says.
