Chase’s New Washington Dulles Airport Lounge Is Now Open

Chase’s Washington Dulles airport lounge is now open. It’s been redesigned as a Chase Sapphire Lounge, in the old Etihad Airways lounge space, and still hosts Etihad premium passengers for their once daily flight as well.

The Chae Sapphire lounge Washington Dulles is located near gate A14. This is the international concourse, which hosts many airlines other than United, though all concourses are connected at the airport.

  • Opening hours 6 a.m. – 10 p.m.
  • Approximately 5,200 square feet (small)
  • Expect made to order and buffet items as well as a full beverage program
  • Access is available 3 hours prior to departure (earlier if connecting)

Chase Sapphire Reserve, J.P. Morgan Reserve, and Ritz-Carlton cardmembers can access the lounge via their Priority Pass card. Other Priority Pass cardmembers can access a U.S. Chase Sapphire Lounge once per calendar year complimentary, and pay $75 for subsequent visits. Pay-in without Priority Pass is $100.

Chase opened its first lounge, in conjunction with The Club (which shares the same corporate parent as Priority Pass), in Hong Kong during the pandemic. Then they opened Boston, which is phenomenal and New York LaGuardia which is nice too but with those silly pay-in private rooms.

Their New York JFK lounge is the old Etihad lounge. And the Washington Dulles lounge that’s been in the works for a year and a half is, too.

Etihad opened its Washington Dulles lounge in 2013, and I was a frequent visitor (flying Etihad first class) until I moved to Austin in fall 2014 (for instance reviewed here and here).

As the airline tried to stop the financial bleeding, they sold lounge access starting in 2017. And at $50 per visit, the Etihad lounge at Washington Dulles – which offered both a buffet as well as a la carte dining – was actually worth considering.

With the Capital One lounge also open at Washington Dulles the airport’s lounge scene is improved.

  1. Will the lounge give preference to Etihad passengers or just flat out deny access to CSR cardholders like the priority pass nonsense?

  2. Is it once per person per year with non Chase PP or can I go in twice with two cards?

  4. Fun! This looks very nice, I’m excited to try and get to take a look next time I fly. Interesting that it doesn’t appear you can bring your usual complimentary guest(s) with a non CSR PP.

    @Beachfan — I’m guessing since you get in via PP rather than directly through the card itself you wouldn’t be able to unless you had two distinct PP accounts for each card. Could very well be wrong though.
