I’m a Briggs & Riley fan, my usual carry on is their Baseline CX bag. They’ve made a splash over the past month with a new bag, and I’ve arranged a giveaway.
As I explained earlier today, I’ll have a different Briggs & Riley bag to give away next week as well (different bags for different reasons, they’ve “got your business and leisure covered” as it were).
The Briggs & Riley TORQ is a departure from just functional offering a stylish hard shell that I think looks great (although it’s extra-reinforced to prevent damage, so functional too).
It has an extra wide wheel base to prevent tipping when overstuffed, and it’s a four wheel spinner for easy transport through the airport.
And it comes with Briggs & Riley’s unrivaled lifetime guarantee.
This time we’re going to try something different. Instead of answering one question, I’m going to ask you to answer two to be eligible to win.
- Do you have different bags for different seasons?
- Do you have different bags for different missions – such as vacation travel and work?
Here are the rules:
- You need to have answered both of those questions in your comment to this blog in order to be entered.
- You may enter up to once per day — and I give you a bit of slack in this, I won’t disqualify any entry as long as you don’t make more than one entry per calendar day or as long as no entry is closer than 24 hours together from another one. And if you’re close, we’re cool. I’m not looking to disqualify people, just to make sure there’s no massive ballot stuffing.
- All entries (comments) must be received no later than Thursday, June 6 at Noon Eastern time.
- I will draw a winner at random in the days following the close of the contest from those that meet these guidelines. Make sure you provide a valid e-mail address when entering to be eligible to win (you do not need to leave an email address in the comments, but along with your name where it asks for your email that email must be ‘real’ or I will have no way of contacting you).
- The winner acknowledges that this is a prize and is not for resale.
- I’m the final arbiter in all matters related to this contest and in all matters of interpretation. There is no appeal. I’m doing this because there’s an opportunity to send out a pretty cool high-end bag, and not taking anything in return, so please don’t give me a hard time in the process.
Any questions? E-mail me. And hopefully the winner will also follow up with me to let me know their impressions of the bag. It looks great!

I do not have different bags for different seasons.
I do not have different bags for work/leisure. What bag I use depends on how long I am gone for.
1 bag for all seasons. Same bag for all reasons – my 15 year old B&R. Warranty repairs on wheels and base but the bag is still solid.
I have a 22″ roller bag that my dad gave me 30 years ago that I am still using for all air travel any time of year. I have replaced one wheel with a scooter wheel. Hey, it works…
I consider all my travel as vacation travel even if I am doing some business, and I use the same bag. It would be fun to try out a new bag…
1) Yes, have a summer bag.
2) Yes, depending on location of travel.
1) No, I have one all-season bag
2) No, my bag choice is inspired by length of trip, not mission.
1. Yes, I I have different bags for different seasons.
2. I have different bags depending on the lenght of stay, if just 1 night I will by michael kors duffle, if more than 1 night I will bring my LLbean rollar board.
No, I wish I had more than one bag for the seasons. Different missions, just depends on the mission…so yes!
I use a good bag for business, a beat up bag for leisure and a checked bag if I am going somewhere really cold and need my bulky cold weather gear.
But none of my bags is as good as the one you are giving away…
No.
Yes, different type of trip, different bag.
I use the same bags for all seasons but I have a few bags for different types and lengths of trips.
1). No
2). Yes – larger bag for leisure.
1. No. Use same bag regardless of the season
2. Yes, I change bags depending on length of trip, and packing needs. As I can’t always carry-on
I don’t have different bags for different seasons.
I do have different bags for work travel and leisure travel. My work bags are much smaller, and I overstuff them as necessary for the length of the trip.
No I don’t have a different bag for different seasons.
I do have a different bag for different trips. If its a quick trip, and its personal ill carry on in a smaller bag. If its for work or a longer trip I will bring out the bigger stuff.
Thanks for doing this!
1. Same bag for all seasons.
2. Same bag for work and travel.
Looking for a rollaboard for our family trip this summer for my son, so I hope I win.
1. No.
2. Yes
I never thought of having different bags for different seasons.
I do have different bags for different activities. For business trips where I’m trying to keep dressier clothes nice, I use a rollaboard or a garment bag. For vacations, I tend to stuff a bunch of outdoors gear into a duffle.
I use the same bag regardless of the season but swap it out if I need to carry more than a simple vacation’s worth. Since I work from home, no need for a suitcase to get me to my home office! I do vary my purse and carryon often, though, depending on the destination and time I’ll be traveling. Thanks – Hope I win!
1. Same bag for all seasons.
2. Same bag for work and play.
The fine art of minimalism.
1. No
2. Yes – larger bag for vacations
1. same bag for all seasons — but i line my bag with heavy-duty plastic if it’s going to be wet 🙂
2. i still use my hiking backpacks for everything (100k miles/yr), though i’m more and more convinced that a rolling bag would be better than my backpack most of the time.
1. Same bags for all seasons.
2. Different bags depending mainly on length of trip and how much I carry.
1. No
2. Yes-depends on how much I am carrying
Do you have different bags for different seasons?
– Not really, I do try to take smaller/lighter bags for worse weather, but otherwise it’s all the same.
Do you have different bags for different missions – such as vacation travel and work?
– Just the lighter the better
1) No. I’m not that stylish.
2) Yes. One for work, is a standard rollaboard. And a great osprey duffel/backpack that I use for my adventures.
1. No
2. No
I don’t have different bags for different seasons for work but I bring larger bags during winter months for vacation.
For different missions, I have a dedicated work bag that is carry on but my vacation bags are larger and checked in and come in various sizes.
Do you have different bags for different seasons?
No, I don’t pack different bags depending on the season.
Do you have different bags for different missions – such as vacation travel and work?
Yes, I have 1 carry on and 1 check in, I generally limit work travel to the carry on and often find myself taking the check in for vacation (significant other always overpacks!)
1. No
2. No, but sometimes a different laptop case with rollers.
Different seasons – no.
Different missions – yes. Depends on reason for trip, size of plane – those small commuter jets require just the right carry on, souvenir potential.
1. no
2. no
◾Do you have different bags for different seasons? No.
◾Do you have different bags for different missions – such as vacation travel and work? Not really. Large bags for long trips and small bags for short trips. Doesn’t matter if the trip is work or leisure.
1. No 2. And not very exciting but no! Do not travel enough!
1. I do not have different bags for different seasons.
2. I have two bags I usually travel with, a traditional rollaboard, and a backpacky type duffel for more rugged adventures.
I don’t have a separate bag for different seasons.
I do have different luggage combinations for short and long trips, from overnights to a month away.
1. Nope, same bags every season
2. Nope, I have a 2 bag system w/ an Osprey Mini Flapjill and a Tom Binh Aeronaut. Same bags for a weekend as for a month.
Q1: I do not use different bags based on the season.
Q2: I typically use the same bags for all of my travel. Sadly, the Samsonite roll-aboard I’ve had for years (10+) is starting to break down. If I’m travelling for a wedding, I’ll sometimes use a suiter rather than the roll-aboard.
◾Do you have different bags for different seasons?
No.
◾Do you have different bags for different missions – such as vacation travel and work?
Not really. My bag varies by length of trip, which tends to correlate to purpose sometimes.
Do you have different bags for different seasons?
no
Do you have different bags for different missions – such as vacation travel and work?
will do so with these new bags
1. No.
2. No
I use the same bags for both reasons.
1. No.
2. I don’t work, but my bags do change depending on flying vs. driving and length of vacation.
no separate bags
I try to travel with a carryon, but that’s impossible with the family.
1. I do not have separate bags for seasons
2. I use one large suitcase for the family to limit any fees and space issues.
1.) No
2.) Yes. For extended vacations where we will be moving between different cities frequently, I use an Osprey Atmos 50L pack. For trips of 2 days or less, I use a Patagonia 45L duffle. For other situations, I use a standard carry-on suitcase (that has recently broken, by the way!). For ski trips, I have a giant suitcase (that’s hard to keep under 50 lbs!).
I have some older travelpro luggage and it is for all seasons and all reasons for travel be it fun or work. So, the answers are no and no. Also, these odds look better than winning the lotto. Good luck to all!!
1. No
2. Yes. If I am traveling over rough surfaces, I use my backpack. Else, something with wheels.
1. No differentiation by season.
2. I usually use a Boyt tri-fold garment bag for business trips vs. whatever works for leisure.
1. No.
2. Yes
Duuude, that carry-on would look much better with my name on it 🙂
1. It’s usually a different season when I get off the plane, so no.
2. For business there’s the great pleasure of just having my one manageable suit carrier.
Vacations mean traveling with kids, so that’s a whole other story and a messier, bigger, stuffed vault of a bag.
