Star Alliance member ANA Mileage Club has a rare status match offer to make competitor program members elites through March 31, 2023. They are specifically targeting American, Delta, and Japan Airlines members but they’ll consider elites from other programs, too, but elites with Star Alliance member programs like United and Air Canada are excluded.
This will be useful for many members because mid-tier status with ANA is Star Alliance Gold status, and that comes with lounge access when flying Star Alliance airlines – even when flying United Airlines domestically. Put another way, it’s akin to a free United Club membership.
Delta SkyMiles Gold and American AAdvantage Platinum (the second tier of each program) match to ANA Mileage Club Platinum.
American Airlines | Delta Air Lines | Japan Airlines | Matched with AMC
Gold | Silver | Crystal | Bronze
Platinum | Gold | Sapphire | Platinum
Platinum Pro / Executive Platinum | Platinum / Diamond | Diamond / Premier | Platinum |
If you’re not already a member of Amex transfer partner ANA Mileage Club (known for its incredibly low-priced award chart) you can join here. And here’s the status match application.
Key details:
- Open to residents of North America (United States of the Americas, Mexico, or Canada; residents of Quebec Canada excluded).
- Will match against 2021 or 2022 status (so if an AAdvantage member didn’t keep their status in 2022, they can still be mached)
- They won’t communicate the result of the match, you’ll just see your status upgraded in your account.
- The status match offer is set to run through September 28, 2022, but could be pulled earlier.

Thanks Gary!
That’s a great one. While UA Gold, I don’t have access on domestic flights to the United Club.
I have two domestic flights coming up on UA so this will be useful.
I assume I have to do the add the ANA number to the booking and then change it after entering the Club?
I think the lounge access is only for medium to long haul international flights.
@Sean – incorrect
So, how do I get lounge access? If I fly United domestically — do I just show my ANA card at the club?
Applied. Thanks.
I had Star Alliance Gold via the TAP Portugal status match last year. I didn’t put the TAP number into my UA booking but just scanned my (digital) TAP card at the United Club entrance, so I assume it will work the same way with ANA.
Well this is rather handy, thanks!
Any real benefits for AA gold to match?
Is there any value to this (other than an extra three months of Gold) if you already are Aeroplan 75K from the prior status match? Seems like that is Star Alliance Gold already.
Is this legit considering they are using survey monkey to collect our data?
How do you prove your elite status in 2021? For example, was AA platinum in 2021, but now down to gold in 2022.
I have the same issue as above. I am shooting for 1k so I don’t want to change my ua number on bookings but I also have AA platinum pro. Is there a way to just leave my bookings under UA then use this to get into clubs?
When does the SA gold status expire? And is this a one status match per lifetime thing?
Everyone to the lounges!
Plenty of room!
I’m assuming SA Lounges do not serve guacamole toast. If not then it’s a “no go” for me.
A bit hesitant to put the information this is coming from Survey Monkey. Do we have a legitimate source that this is in fact coming from ANA. Maybee could be a misdirected actor that put an article out and this was picked up but seems a bit odd a major co like ANA would use survey monkey without covering it thru ANA.
What tier does AA Gold match to?
And repeating question above, is this a once in a lifetime status match?
If my only Star Alliance flight will be business class on Singapore JFK-FRA-JFK, is there any benefit to having star alliance gold for me, or will being in business class already get me everything it gets?
