DEAL: $140 for $250 in Your Choice of Wine Plus Miles

WineAccess.com is a wine shop I wouldn’t usually buy from. Their prices are a bit on the high side. However there are (3) stackable offers that make them an amazing deal right now.

You can spend $250, get back $50 from referral credit, and American Express has an ‘Amex Offer’ of $60 back on $250 spend. And you can earn miles for your purchase through a shopping portal too. Your net out of pocket cost will be $140 plus frequent flyer miles.

Amex Offer: $60 back on S250 Spend

Amex offers are targeted, but this one seems to be broadly available. I logged into my American Express account, scrolled down to the Amex Offers and clicked to show more.

Beyond the scope of this deal, there’s also $10 back on $50 spend at (the often pricey) Wine.com.

In any case spend $250 at WineAccess.com using your American Express card that you’ve registered this offer to and you’ll get a $60 statement credit. You need to spend $250 — not $200 — because you’re also going to take advantage of a $50 discount and the actual amount charged to your card needs to hit $200.

And WineAccess may not have bottles that ship to all of these states, they show nothing available when I set my home address in Texas.

In addition you won’t earn the rebate for “purchases made in the following sections: Top Wineries, Top Categories, and Top Regions.”

$50 Referral Credit

After you’ve added the Amex Offer to your account, sign up for WineAccess with a referral code and you’ll get $50 off an order of $150 or more (you want to spend $250 though anyway for the Amex Offer rebate).

Note that an order of 6 bottles or more — or $150 — will qualify for free shipping, which is below the threshold you’re going to want to spend.

Shopping Portal Credit

Once you’ve added the Amex Offer to your card, and signed up for a WineAccess account, start at a shopping portal to click through to Wine Access before making your purchase.

Getting the Best Deal

They don’t have a ton of selection. Each bottle is more than it should be. For instance they have Louis Roederer Brut Premier champagne for $49, Wine.com has it for $50, but in my opinion it should be $40. Of course $150 purchases come with shipping and that mitigates somewhat.

The markup seems to be consistent across many of their bottles (although 2009 Dom Perignon seems overpriced by almost $30), so you get the very best deal buying the fewest bottles of wine. Buy a couple of bottles, not six, to get to the $250 in spend.

Or….you could just hit your local CVS and buy their brand of wine, actually not bad…if you buy 6 bottles, they give you a nifty free wine bottle tote and 10% off your purchase, EVERY DAY, EVERY TIME! I don’t drink much anymore but I’ve had it and found it pretty decent, have also given it away and folks loved it. Doesn’t get to be a much better deal and after the first couple of glasses I’ve never seen ANYONE complain about it LOL

Two bottles 2012 Chateau Clos Dubreuil St. Emilion Grand Cru Bordeaux @ $129 each, which is actually cheaper than the other places one can purchase it in the US — and that’s before the discount, credit, and AS miles. I’ll cellar those for at least another four years. Gary, used your link, so you should have another $50 credit.

  4. I went all in on Champagne, I compared prices to Total Wine and they were exactly the same, so not complaining!

    Couple of points:-

    Was not able to ship to TX – called and they can only ship “Todays FInds” to Texas, nothing in the regular store. I was able to ship to a Family member in LA, had to pay Sales Tax, but still a bargain with Cashback Portal and Amex and Referral Triple Dip

    Also looks like referrals only allow so many links, then the offer expires –so if you are still looking to Save $50:

  7. I changed my delivery state to Louisiana from Texas and was able to see a greater inventory. I’d recommend checking a different state if you have difficulty – just deliver it to a trusted friend’s house and pick it up later.

  12. Additional 15% off sale today (not sure how long its good for) which bring pricing inline with my local retailers so im buying a few bottles champagne I wouldn’t usually spend the money for

    The estimated tax is showing at about 10.5% however, much higher than it should be for my state, I’ll have to see what actually gets billed to the card.
