Delta puts a specific award on sale usually each month and this month it’s U.S. and Canada flights from 5000 miles each way for bookings made by January 13 and travel with at least 21 day advance purchase between January 24 and July 31.
Delta pretends to no longer have award charts. The truth is they are just hidden. Saver or level one awards are normally 35,000 miles each way in economy for North Asia and 40,000 miles in economy each way for the rest of Asia. For business class it’s 80,000 miles each way regardless of destination.

Bear in mind that just because you can get the flight for 5000 miles doesn’t make it an especially great deal. These are flights that sell for $63 – $73.
Still, this is marginally better than using your miles for a haircut or at one cent a point against the inflated $250 price Delta charges for a $139 (or less) bottle of Dom Perignon — which really only gets you half a cent a point in value.

No love for CVG…maybe Southwest coming here will improve our chances to save money.
@DiscoPapa every time Delta runs an award sale they offer the same low value proposition.
I prefer Delta’s award search over American’s. It is useless to me to know that a saver award from IAD to Europe is on AA is 57,500 in business if they never open up any space on those routes except of course using British Airways and the $400 fuel surcharges. However, I can see why those needing specific dates would not like Delta because it is a moving target, but the AA search is in a need of serious update and better functionality. Although it’s hardly the worst out there.
Delta’s five-week out chart clearly shows me the best deals, which are available. Also, Delta’s iPhone app is really my favorite, one of the few I can quickly search and even book.
