Hilton has cut its status challenge requirements in half, and since it’s the beginning of the calendar year doing a status match now and meeting the requirements earns next year’s status.

In other words, do a status match now and you get 90 days of status. During that time stay 9 nights with Hilton and you will earn Honors Diamond elite status through March 2023.

Now, Hilton also let you earn Diamond status off a match after just 9 nights from August through December of last year. That’s because they counted their double elite nights promotion towards the nights required for a status match. With that promotion over, Hilton has dropped the nights requirement for a status challenge in half.

  • If you have just about any status with any hotel chain, Hilton will give you 90 days of Honors Gold

  • During the 90 days stay 5 nights to keep Gold or 9 nights to receive Diamond

  • This earned status lasts through march 2023

You’ll need to provide proof of elite status with your current hotel chain and at least one stay within the past 12 months in order to qualify. This is only available to Honors members who haven’t used a Hilton status challenge before, and reward nights don’t count towards the required elite nights to earn status (even though they normally count for regular status-earning).

Hilton Gold gets free breakfast, and can help avoid the worst rooms. I have Gold status from my Platinum Card® from American Express.

Comments

  1. @gary Should be “During the 90 days” as opposed to the “During the 9 days” it says now.

  2. Hi – I am wondering if I obtain Diamond through status match, will it be counted towards lifetime status? If so, how many years’ credit will it count for?
