Giving Away National Car Rental Points and Executive Elite Status!

National Car Rental: Sign Up for the One Two Free Promotion

With some rental companies I choose to earn miles instead of rental points. With National I want free rental credits. I’ve been renting from National mostly in recent times, and I’m a big fan of their One Two Free promotion that gives you free rentals in addition to their standard rental credits.

I got a note from the PR folks asking if I’d help them promote the fact that they’re running this offer, and I told them I’d happily give away points in the promotion. As is customary, they offered points to me but as is my custom I asked if I could give away the points and they agreed. I also asked if I could give away elite status, and they agreed to that too!

And since you can get National’s Executive Status as a Milepoint Premium member, I asked if we could get an Executive Elite membership to give away. They agreed to that, too!

Executive status gets you access to better cars, you pick from the Executive Aisle instead of just the Emerald Aisle. And you earn free rentals faster.

Executive elite status normally requires 25 paid rentals or 85 paid rental days. It gets you guaranteed availability (24 hours advance reservation required), earns free rentals faster than Executive members, and an unpublished benefit in my experience is that free rental days can be redeemed for any car size or class.

And all you have to do to enter is leave a comment on this post by Sunday at 1pm Eastern answering: Are you registering for National’s One Two Free promotion?

The newly redesigned One Two Free program allows Emerald Club members the ability to accrue points, to eventually earn a free rental – essentially, when you rent twice, you get the third one free.

I’m a big fan of National Car Rental, for two reasons.

  • They pioneered “pick your own vehicle” (the Emerald Aisle). When you’re a member of their Emerald Club, you walk up to the Emerald Aisle and just take the car you want. You show your ID on the way out. If I don’t want a Taurus, I don’t have to have one.
  • They run what I believe is the most lucrative promotion of any rental company, “One Two Free,” for every two rentals of a mid-size vehicle that’s two days or longer, you get a free rental day.

This year their One Two Free promotion lets you also earn points towards a free rental through several non-rental activities.

300 points counts as a qualifying rental towards a free rental day.

Here are the prizes:

  • One grand prize winner: 300 points + Executive Elite status
  • 3 runner-up winners: 300 points each. 300 points can be used to jump-start your participation in the One Two Free campaign.

I will select the winners with the assistance of Random.org, all decisions are final, and by entering you agree that there are no appeals, that you will not complain because I’m trying to do something nice to my readers and don’t need more complaints in my life! 🙂

And don’t forget to register for One Two Free!

  1. National is the only travel provider that I would feel comfortable being their spokesman for. The service is great on the Emerald Aisle and, as Gary notes, the One-Two-Free promo lets you double-dip: you get to earn free days in their regular awards program while, at the same time, get 1 free day for every two two-day-or-more rentals. And what’s nice about the free day certs is that you can even use them on expensive one-way rentals.

National’s rate are usually quite competitive, especially if you’re willing to devote a few minutes to comparing the promo codes and coupons (Flyertalk has a good thread summarizing these).

Bottomline, there are a lot of airlines and hotels that offer loyalty programs much like their competitors. But, in the car rental world, National is head-and-shoulders above the competition in terms of service and loyalty rewards. It’s a no-brainer for any frequent traveler to be loyal to their program. One-two-free is just icing on the cake.

  2. Are you registering for National’s One Two Free promotion? Already have, I love National cause I love to pick my car. I do local rentals from Union Station here in DC since it’s 6 blocks from our house. They are tremendous!

  3. being able to pick your own vehicle, without having to stand in line waiting for a customer service agent, is a very lucrative benefit.

With Executive Elite status, I would shift my rentals over to National.

I appreciate your giving away points, and other prizes too!

  4. Are you registering for National’s One Two Free promotion?

YES! One of my favorite promotions of the year. I love being able to pick my own car with National.

  5. One, Two, Free…you bet I’m registering. It’s an incredible promotion and I look forward to my next opportunity to play “pick a car, pick any car” from the Aisle!

  6. Are you registering for National’s One Two Free promotion?

YES! One of my favorite promotions of the year.

  7. This is one of my favorite promotions of the year–I always look forward to it. I usually rack up at least two or three free days without any effort.

Unfortunately this year I got deployed….so it was one and done for me. Oh well, there’s always 2014….National is by-far the best car rental program!

  8. I’m signing up now! How could I not with this promotion? And now I see what a rewarding program they have, I will be makin the switch to National from Enterprise.

  9. Already registered. Even if I don’t have plans on renting from National I’ll register. And in past years it has pulled my business their way.

  10. Yes, I am going to register since you reminded me of the good reasons to do so. While very subjective, my experience is that National has the nicest selection of cars.

  11. I most certainly will now. Did not know about this. I’m going to start taking my car rental program as seriously as my hotel and airlines. Valuable points for the taking!

  12. Got the 50 points for connecting the account to Facebook and referred two of my siblings. Will get the referring bonus of 300 points each if they book National …

The Executive Elite perk is very nice. This came in handy last April in DC as we got a luxury van for a price of mid-size car.

  13. Great promotion I am registered and ready to go pick out my rental car! Thanks for all the great information and giveaways.

  14. I’m a big fan of National and have been using them consistently for two years. The service is always great and as an Emerald Club member I get free upgrades!

  15. I haven’t used them before, but have had interest. This promo is a great reason to try them, especially after reading the kudos here. I will register.

    Thank you!

  16. Of course I’m registered. Been a long time National customer and a brief dalliance with Hertz this year proved why. I’m back!

  17. As a frequent car renter and a big National fan (exciting member) I surely already signed up but don’t really understand how it works, how i can earn them and where I can see how much points I have.

  18. I have already signed up. I love this promotion from National. also, thanks a ton for doing this giveaway!!!!

  19. Going to Florida in 3 weeks and we decided we need a rental car. Guess it’s time to register and get closer to a free rental.

  20. Signed up and earning each week. Actually trasferred all of my credits from ERAC over to National and only use them because of the great service and ability to choose which car I actually want to drive.

  21. Signed up, not really a good reason not to at least check it out. Maybe the program will be good – no risk here if it doesn’t though.

  22. Yes i did!

It takes 600 points for a free not 300 as stated

“”300 points is enough for a free rental day.

    Here are the prizes:

One grand prize winner: 300 points + Executive Elite status
3 runner-up winners: 300 points each. 300 points can be used to jump-start your participation in the One Two Free campaign.”

  23. I love using the Executive/Emerald aisle and have been a loyal National customer for a few years now. Just this week in Dallas it took me extra time to leave the rental car garage. No, it wasn’t a National issue. In fact, there was no line. The issue was that they had a huge # of cars and styles available and I couldn’t figure out which was best for this trip.

  24. Yes, thanks.

I just signed up. Didn’t realize it was a sign-up program when I saw the promotion last month.

  25. I’ll sign up. Love National – the emerald or executive aisle always works. The Hertz and Avis versions of counter-bypass have yet to actually work for me, over multiple attempts. National gets all my business unless they’re double the price.

  26. I haven’t used National much in the past, but after the milepoint promotion I signed up for this offer.

  27. I’ll be signing up. Not sure if I’m going to have any car rentals during the promotion but if so it will be a nice deal.

  28. I definitely am registered! I love National and getting to choose my car and drive it right off the lot!

  29. Are you registering for National’s One Two Free promotion? I just did, using your link. Thanks for the opportunity to win.

  30. I’m signing up! I always rent with National because their cars are new/clean, and their employees are pretty chill.

  31. Absolutely registering. National is the best car rental company, bar none, in my opinion. Love the aisle and would love to have better selection from the Executive Aisle!

  32. I will probably register even though I don’t have a lot of rental cars coming up, but I always make sure to register for promos so I don’t have to think about it when making a reservation.

  33. Yes. Received Executive Status with the MilePoint P2 Premium upgrade, going for Executive Elite next!

  34. Absolutely will sign up. Even though I’m renting less at year end (this would have been killer last spring) it’s still too good not to take advantage of. Thanks for the heads up!

  35. I am signed up this year. I did the promotion last year and rented enough to enjoy two free rental days!

  36. Yes in fact I did register already. Have a Tahoe booked via Emerald Reserve in Denver the first week in Dec which was cheaper than a full size. Had great service last time in DEN and great selection from executive aisle.

  37. I am not, because there is no National in my country. Still like to collect elite status though!

  38. Absolutely, our whole family will be registering for One Two Free this time. This is a great offer. My husband and I (both business travelers) love National’s promotions.

  39. I registered for the promotion but did not realize (until I read your post) that rentals need to be 2 days or more to qualify. Thanks as always for the information and the giveaway!!!!

  40. Did it. National is a great outfit and very fair in its rewards and customer service. Do watch that the rental credits and free days expire relatively quickly (you can’t bank for retirement in other words.)

  41. I rent from National 150 days a year and I love the promotions, but more importantly really love the management and operating philosophy – entrepreneurial and customer-centric.

  42. I registered and hope that Enterprise rentals are included as they accept Emerald numbers (do Enterprise rentals count?)

  43. I’ve already signed up, as National is far and away my favorite car rental company. While others (e.g., Avis) might offer better quality cars overall, the service, Executive Aisle, and award program at National can’t be beat.

  44. I’ve slacked off on National with Hertz’s Adrenaline Collection being available, but this promo is always excellent, so looking forward to it.

  45. of course i have already registered. the winner will finally be able to select something other than a taurus or malibu!

  46. I signed up for this promotion after reading this post. Thank you for providing the details..

  47. Nope. I rarely rent cars; last time I did was probably a 5-minute rental for the USAirways Grand Slam.

  48. Thanks for this great information! Love National and rent from them when ever I travel. Just finished registering for National’s One Two Free Promotion. Thanks again!

  49. Not signed up yet, but now that you’ve told me about it, I’ll sign up just as soon as I can locate my National Emerald Club number
