A month ago I noted the speculation about the very modest Hilton second quarter promotion that would be coming.
It’s finally out, and registration is open.
Select from either a free night certificate for every four stays or double base points, valid through June 30 (and only stays commencing after registration count). You can only make your choice once, no changes, so choose wisely.
Hilton’s first quarter promo was a free stay for every four stays or 10 nights, so rewarding long-staying guests. And even though the headline on this promo suggests it is only incentivizing stays, the terms and conditions suggest that members will again receive a free night after four stays or 10 nights, just like the first quarter promo.
Naturally, Hyatt’s Faster Free Nights (ok, “The Big Welcome Back”) blows this out of the water. Personally I’ll even take Starwood’s 1000 bonus points per stay in April, and that’s just an interim promo to tide us over until they announce their second quarter promo.
But this HIlton offer is better than nothing. I’ll probably have just a couple of Hilton stays during the quarter, so I’m picking double points, which are better than not getting double points. But the offer is nothing to get excited about, and it’s not incentivizing incremental stays from me at least.
Update: Loyalty Traveler likes this promo a lot more than I do, largely because of the year in which to use your free night, compared to shorter validity of the Hyatt Free Night (after half as many stays) offer.
Thanks Gary…Do reward stays count towards the 4? It seems like they wouldn’t, but they sometimes have in the past.
It looks like this may only be valid for a total of one free night certificate? For example, I don’t see any suggestion that you might get 2 certificates after 8 stays.
@Julia from http://www.hhonors.com/freestay: “there is no limit to the number of bonus points or free night certificates awarded”
@Julia – the main part of the website says it’s unlimited so no limit of 3 like first quarter
Fairly new to the Hilton Program and achieved a free night certificate last quarter. From my layman view, what is nice about it is that I believe it is good for almost (if not all)any Hilton chain hotel hotels. We recently used ours for the Conrad Tokyo which was truly top-notch and gorgeous. Had I used points, it would have required 50,000 points which would have taken me longer to accumulate. Thus, was pleased with the promotion and very much so with the hotel.
