Whether you are a current Hyatt Visa cardmember or you get a new one this month as long as you register by October 31 you’ll receive a $50 rebate on $300 or more in spend with Hyatt Place and Hyatt House through January 1, 2018.
Since the rebate is triggered based on a credit card transaction, pre-existing reservations are eligible (no need to cancel and rebook).
This is not a Hyatt loyalty program promotion or at least shouldn’t be considered anything akin to a ‘fourth quarter promo’. Hyatt took away check-in bonuses for top tier elites with the rollout of the new program. Property-specific offers (“G bonuses”) are long gone. And we haven’t seen a program-wide bonus since ‘Double Points for Being You’ ended June 30. And that one was weak compared to prior efforts.
Instead this is more like their August/September Hyatt Visa-Whole Foods rebate. In other words it’s similar to an ‘Amex Offer’. (And this one is better than the Whole Foods deal, no requirement to accept text messages as part of the registration process.)
Here are the terms and conditions which some things that aren’t true, such as you have to have received this offer from Hyatt (unless a transitive property is at work here — Hyatt sent it to me and I’ve sent it to you — and that it’s ‘not transferrable’.
Still for those who stay at limited-service or long stay Hyatt properties, $50 is $50 if you can charge your stays to a Hyatt co-brand credit card.
Terms and conditions:
This offer is only valid for Hyatt Credit Cardmembers in good standing who receive this offer from Hyatt and register for it by 10/31/2017.This offer only applies to “Qualifying Transactions” made with your Hyatt Credit Card during the promotional period (10/2/2017 – 1/1/2018) in the amount of $300 or more in total at Hyatt Place and Hyatt House locations in the United States.
Qualifying Transactions do not include any purchases made at on-property outlets (e.g. restaurant, spa, etc.) not owned or operated by the hotel. To qualify, transactions must be identified as qualifying Hyatt transactions on Visa’s proprietary network (VisaNet).
The Hyatt Place and Hyatt House locations must submit the hotel transactions under the appropriate merchant code for the transaction to be identified as a qualifying hotel transaction. Please allow 6 to 8 weeks after qualifying purchases post to your account for statement credit to post to your account.
“Qualifying Transactions”” are purchases of goods and services made by you or any authorized user on your account, and do not include balance transfers, cash advances, cash-like charges such as travelers checks, foreign currency, and money orders, any checks that access your account, overdraft advances, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, or fees of any kind, including an annual fee, if applicable.
Maximum statement credit accumulation during the promotional period is $50. Credit card product changes during the promotional period will forfeit this offer. To qualify for this offer, account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment. This offer is non-transferable.
I guess things are a little slow at HH, and HPs this year without all of us deadbeat Diamonds earning status.
I have bought gift cards at a Hyatt Place. Wonder if they are still sold.
If you haven’t had the card in the past then go through the booking process on Hyatt’s website, apply from that link. You’ll get:
$50 statement credit after the 1st purchase
40k point signup bonus
5k points for an Auth user making 1 purchase
Free night (cat 1-4) on card anniversary date
Then do this $50 back on $300 spend, all for a $75 annual fee.
IDK if I’ll spend >$300 at HH/ HP hotels, but thank you for this info. I’ve registered just in case I do ! Also, if I stay at one of each, it will be 2 brands toward their 5-brand bonus!
Gary, do you know if the $300 charge must be on a single stay/credit card posting, or if it is a cumulative amount during the promotion period?
The T&C’s are somewhat ambiguous:
“This offer only applies to “Qualifying Transactions” made with your Hyatt Credit Card during the promotional period (10/2/2017 – 1/1/2018) in the amount of $300 or more in total at Hyatt Place and Hyatt House locations in the United States.”
Gary, if I’m registering for this promotion, why does the registration require my CC number? The registration is already pre populated with my name and Hyatt Passport number. Smells wrong. You are the credit card guru. Is this appropriate to ask for my credit information?
@Loralu you would think that a better customer experience might be registering with Hyatt and they know if you’re a cardmember, but this is a Visa thing and they validate your cardmembership that way.
Curious if this will work on GCs too.
Hyatt – go back to real hotel programs that once made you the best.
Thanks Gary
Am reassured and will register now. I am one of those elites that made it on stays, so my Diamond status will well and truly be a thing of the past next year
