News and notes from around the interweb:
- Right after reminding customers that Korean Air Skypass will devalue its program April 1 after delaying the 2019-announced changes during the pandemic, they’ve suspended planned changes to the program indefinitely which is a huge win. (HT: One Mile at a Time) Korean is part-owned by Delta which seemed to explain the plan to light their mileage program on fire, which also made this backtracking such a surprise.
I still have several hundred thousand Korean Air miles that I transferred in when Chase lost Sky Pass as a transfer partner (when US Bank got exclusivity in their re-upped card deal) and I need to use them in the next couple of years. Fortunately they’ll be more valuable when I do! Historically they’ve been great at releasing premium cabin award space on their own flights…

That’s great – and really surprising – news about Skypass!!
I would suspect that since Korean Skypass points are hard to acquire, and with fewer redemptions,
they decided to leave it alone for now. In due time, i’m sure Delta will show them how to Destroy their program.
Korean Air has always been a favorite of mine . I have flown their international F class many times . I was extremely disappointed when they pulled back on F and only offer it on a fraction of the flights that previously had F . One of the great things about KE was that you could fly in F on several intra Asia routes before the F cutback . Was always great to get to ICN after a flight from the USA and continue on in F . Is the KE F experience the most luxurious? No . But the service is excellent and seats and entertainment are more than adequate . Johnnie Walker Blue scotch and nice French reds 🙂 I wish they would rethink the decision to cut back on F . The downside , because of so few flights with F , is KE F redemptions have gone from plentiful to almost nonexistent.
It was heavy pressure from South Korean government that put KE on its knees. Media and Korean congress has been destroying KE for last week or so. Finally gave in. The price of doing business in non-US country.
Former homeland security officer, I can tell you that, many ways are used; but Slander is still against the Law just remember we governments and employees have to be responsible to.
