IHG One Rewards will give you 500 points for downloading their app. All you need to do to get the points is log in – no hotel stays required.
500 points are worth about $2.50. In effect, IHG is paying people to download their mobile app, as long as it’s done by June 30, 2024. They call it “the easiest 500 points ever.”
Although the easiest points ever were probably a dozen years ago when IHG offered points for downloading their shopping toolbar but didn’t actually make you install it (just hit the download page) and didn’t limit the number of times you could do it (infinite). But “the thing about the old days is they the old days” and I’ll take these 500 points today.
That’s doubly true because for non-elite members IHG’s points expire after 12 months of account inactivity – and this is activity.

Thanks. Had points due to expire in a few days; this will keep it alive for now.
How long does it take to be credited to my account?
I downloaded app and signed in, but no bonus points given and nowhere on the app was it mentioned. What am I missing…besides 500 points?
The IHG toolbar… Ah yes, before companies truly understood bots and web scripts and the devs didn’t include a limiter, and it ran over a weekend before corporate noticed. And all the idiots who didn’t think hotel nights or airline tickets booked with IHG points would be cancelled. That was an interesting Flyertalk thread for sure.
good afternoon everybody

It is asking for a promo code. Thoughts?
